Hypertension/High Blood Pressure

I’m 20 weeks and was diagnosed with stage II hypertension. This puts me in the high risk category. I was told I won’t be carrying to my due date as they will induce me anywhere from 36-38 weeks. & ontop of my regular OB appts I will also be seeing a high risk dr. It has been determined the high bp is not preeclampsia or pregnancy related. The bp med I have been prescribed makes me sleep. I’ve wasted my whole weekend sleeping and I’m really very unhappy about it. I’ve been sleeping 8-10 hours over night and another 4-6 during the day. It’s too much. I’m thinking of taking myself off the med until I can see my dr again as I need energy to get things done while I have off. Has anyone else had hypertension or been put in the high risk category for other reasons?

I have had both pregnancy induced hypertension and just hypertension. Please do not take yourself off your meds without talking to your doctor. I would call them and ask what can be done, sometimes they will give you a different medicine Without having you come in.

also, if you only take it once a day, switch to taking it at night.
