Anyone pregnant take either Levothyroxine or NP THYROID during pregnancy for hypothyroidism? I’m trying to decide which to take, but wanted to hear personal stories/outcomes! I’m newly pregnant, 5 weeks! Help!
Hi! I'm not sure what kind of stories you're looking for, but I took levothyroxine my entire first pregnancy and now have a beautiful two year old girl! It did require monthly blood work to keep the dosing accurate, but I really trust my endocrinologist, and that's what she thought was best for me.
I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow, and I have my first blood draw scheduled already so that she can keep an eye on me during this pregnancy. Best of luck!
Thank you for your reply! I appreciate it! I see the pros to both options and it sounds like Levothyroxine is the standard for pregnancy, but I was wondering if anyone used NP and had a healthy baby too!
Do you take any other supplements for thyroid health?
I take some other meds for asthma, allergies, and PCOS, plus prenatals, but levothyroxine is the only thyroid specific med that I'm on. I've been taking it for years, actually, not just during pregnancy, although being pregnant did up my dose a little bit. I never noticed any side effects, though.
And I've never heard of NP Thyroid, so I unfortunately have no info on it one way or another.

I hope that's helpful in some way!
