Anterior Placenta - When do I feel my baby?

Hello ladies!

We are 18+1 today and my wife has felt our little baby only a few times over the last few weeks. It's very inconsistent and only for moments. Probably a total of 4-5 times. We confirmed at our 12+4 day appt. that she has an anterior placenta so we expected not to feel her for a while but we are so excited to have more interaction with her! Anyone else with an anterior placenta? How's it going with you guys!

We are first time mom's :)

Re: Anterior Placenta - When do I feel my baby?

  • I have an anterior placenta too. Right now I’m 17w3d. I thought I felt some light tapping all the way on the side of my tummy at 15 weeks but haven’t felt anything since. Also a first time mom so it’s so hard to tell without knowing for sure what a baby feels like!

Congrats on your pregnancy! I also have anterior placenta and didn't feel my baby until around 19.5 weeks. I never felt the light bubbles or butterfly movements that people talk about, maybe because of the position of my placenta. When I did feel it, it was a definite nudging feeling! Since then, I've felt him daily, but my midwives said it's totally normal to go a day or two without movement until you hit the third trimester :)
