Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Sleep issues

My 5 month old has been waking up every hour or so for the last month. Before that, he was getting about 4 hours as a first stretch, then, 2-3 hour stretched after that. When he did wake, I would be able to nurse him and put him back down no problem. Now, shortly after I went back to work a month ago, he never gets longer than 2 hours as a first stretch, then is up about every hour after that, sometimes more! He will cry, arch his back, and push the pacifier away. He will only settle when I nurse him, and he will end up falling asleep most of the time while latched. So I am basically up all night nursing him. And he will sleep in his bassinet for naps and that first stretch of bedtime sleep, but then refuse to go back in for the rest of the night (will only sleep in bed with me). I work a 2 days on, 2-3 days off rotating schedule 7am-7pm, so it is hard to have a solid routine everyday and at bedtime. Anyone else go through a similar thing?

I just want to let know knownthat I am also going through the same thing with my 5.5 month old. It started a 4 months and I thought it was just the famous, "4 month sleep regression"  the she went back to how she was for about a week and a a half, now this is what our night looks like in a regular bases (I attached a photo). I'm lucky if I get a 2.5 hair stretch most nights.

Oof, I feel you. We went through the same thing around that age, and it was rough. 😩 For us, it turned out to be a mix of sleep regression and teething. What helped a bit was sticking to a consistent bedtime routine (even when it felt pointless lol) and using white noise. Additionally, taking short naps during the day improved nighttime sleep, a surprising yet true observation. You’re not alone; hang in there, it gets better. ❤️
