Trying to Get Pregnant

PCOS and Plus Size

Hey everyone — just throwing myself in here. Could definitely use some advice (or at least a sanity check).

I’m TTC, first-timer, and feeling a little lost. Quick backstory:
- PCOS (no cysts)
- Insulin resistance
- Plus-size
- Was on Wegovy — didn’t lose much weight, but it kept my symptoms/blood sugar in check. Since stopping to start TTC, weight crept up again, periods peaced out for 4 months, and PCOS came back swinging.

My OB’s been helping — I did a 5-day progesterone course and got a withdrawal bleed (yay?).
Husband’s sperm sample came back great so he’s squared away.
Had an HSG (0/10 worst pain of my life) — but my tubes are open, so there’s that.

We tried TTC around when I should have been ovulating, but my OPKs never showed a surge. Day 23 bloodwork is coming up, but I’m pretty sure it’ll confirm I didn’t ovulate. Because I don’t have a regular cycle, I’m kind of stuck:
- Do I push for ovulation meds?
- Keep waiting and hoping for a natural ovulation miracle?
- Some secret third thing?

Mostly, I’m just feeling super alone in this. None of my friends have gone through it, and it’s… a lot. A friend pointed me to this forum, so here I am. Would love to hear from anyone who’s been in a similar boat (or just wants to commiserate).

Thanks for letting me ramble

Re: PCOS and Plus Size

  • It sounds like your PCOS is causing you to not O regularly.  You may need to medicate to attempt PG.  YOu may need to go to a Reproductive Endocrinologist.

I'd recommend intro'ing yourself in the Newbie thread and joining into the weekly dailies and get to know some people here to commiserate with.

  • PCOS can be really hard when TTC. Your body may try to ovulate several times and not do it. I highly recommend getting started on something that can force ovulation if your doctor is willing to do that.

We would love to support you on your TTC journey. We have an introduction thread and weekly threads we post on as a community. You can just jump into one of those.
