Re: Weekly Randoms 4/27

  • A couple randoms.

My husband's last day at his old job is Wed. He starts his new one next Monday. He has been traveling for work the last 3wks. I am soo stinking excited for him to be home for a few days between. We have so much work in our garden to do that needs to be done and I'm dragging....

We have always been pretty anti pet besides dogs and cats. With 7 kids it can get crazy quick. This fall my oldest saved a bunch of tadpoles from a pond that was drying up and its sparked an obsession with my middle kids. They have caught frogs, a turtle, and a lizard. I have no energy to say no. So instead I turned it into a homeschool project and we've been working on building them proper homes... we also are keeping 2 rabbits for my 3yr old. That escalated quick!!!!!!

  • Ok those are the cutest little bun buns!!!

My husband and I went to Monster Jam with our little guy and my FIL on Saturday. We all had so much fun! The walk back to the car, however, sucked. We basically were rushed out one entrance and had to walk all the way around the stadium in Philly to get there. I don't know who was more exhausted, me or our 2 year old. Sunday we went to a big church event at my husband's family church up in North Jersey. Absolutely exhausting. I sat down a majority of the time, and my poor fair Irish face got sunburned. But it was fun. Everyone brought a bunch of different stuff, and I didn't want to eat any of it. 😩 I have aversions to all food now.
  • @bridgiebee82 are you guys Orthodox? Feel free to ignore or respond in dms if its too personal.

We took our boys to Monster Jam a few years ago. Soo fun!!! So sorry about thr burnt face and aversions... I've found every pregnancy I'm extra sensitive to the sun....

  • @nopegoat my husband's family is Ukranian Orthodox, so we did the St. Thomas Pilgrimage to their church and had the blessing of the graves of the family members. His family does not go to Liturgy unless it is a funeral. My husband and I are Catholic and we go to Mass every Sunday, sometimes to daily Mass.

@bridgiebee82 when you said you sat down most of the time on Sunday I figured it was an Orthodox church, ha!! We are Orthodox. ❤️

My husband just went to his first mass. He went to see one of his long time friends that live near where he was working, my husband travels for work. He said it was beautiful.

  • @bridgiebee82 please forgive me. I know religion is one of those taboo topics. I hope I didn't offend with my prying.

  • Working in the garden today and thought I'd share a quick reminder to try to stay hydrated! It can be super hard especially in first trimester when you are queasy and exhausted.  Some things I've found that has helped is make sure its super cold, add flavors frozen berries and fruit, lemon, lime, ginger whatever, and to add a straw. I don't know why but the straw makes a big difference.

Another reminder, hormones make you extra sensitive to the sun so make sure to keep that in mind or you'll quickly go into lobster mode!

  • I knew I’d be on insulin at some point but apparently that time is now. I truly wasn’t expecting it to happen this soon, but apparently my liver is demanding it. And apparently they are putting me on a different night time insulin that requires you to take it and then wake up 4 hours later and test your sugar.

Umm what the what? I have not had this particular schedule before and I kind of want to ask them what in the fuckity they are thinking. Because in what universe is it sensible to wake up the ridiculously exhausted person who is growing a whole human and needs sleep to not get it. (Also if I’m under a certain number then I have to eat a specific snack and then wait 15 min. Rinse and repeat till I get to a certain point)

The amount of rage I have at this is sky high.

(I have issues with my sleep already😱)
    this is my backup acct.

  • @thatbaintforbetty oh no. I'm so sorry on all accounts. That sounds absolutely miserable.  I truly hope you can find something that works without all the extra steps. 🙏🙏

Absolutely no offense taken whatsoever! I love talking about my faith with others.

The Mass is absolutely beautiful. I am so glad your husband got to experience it.
  • @thatbaintforbetty I am sorry! I would be absolutely livid. Don't they understand the importance of getting good sleep for a growing baby? Am I missing something here? Wake up 4 hours later? Come on! That's just ridiculous. I don't blame you for being outraged.
