Heartburn/Acid reflux

Hello!

I am currently 13 wks and my heart burn and acid reflux have been INTENSE! I reached out to by OBGYN because I couldn’t even sleep and during the day my stomach just felt like it was either constantly hungry with pain or now even when I eat my stomach hurts. I was prescribed Sulcrafalate, but the dosing instructions messed my stomach up even more. I started taking half a pill in the afternoon and at night after eating. The pain still continues and I can barely eat without my stomach burning… anybody experience this and any advise???

Re: Heartburn/Acid reflux

  • You can take Pepcid during PG.  You can also take other things.  Some tips (from a GERD and frequent heartburn sufferer):
Don't eat like 3-4 hours before going to bed
Buy a wedge pillow to sleep more upright
Put your bed on a slant, even an inch or two can help
    Don't eat spicy foods

I also find graham crackers being munched on here/there help, especially if I have heartburn before falling asleep.

  • ugh, that sounds rough! i had crazy heartburn too, and tbh, sometimes just eating smaller meals helped a bit, but definitely check with your doc if it keeps up!

Just looked it up on the 'Heal Baby Care App' and here's what it says:

"I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing such discomfort during your pregnancy. Heartburn and acid reflux can be quite common, especially in the second trimester. It might help to try smaller, more frequent meals and avoid spicy or fatty foods that can trigger symptoms. Additionally, elevating your head while sleeping can reduce nighttime discomfort.

Have you noticed any specific foods that seem to worsen your symptoms?"
