I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant. I work for a privately owned dental office. The only Dr is an amazing woman. She’s 35 with twin 4 years olds. The whole office is just 8 women. I’m not sure when to tell her. Last year, I had a silent miscarriage at 6 weeks and carried for another 7 weeks before actually miscarrying at 13 weeks. In my area we don’t get a pre-natal appt until the 12 week scan. I miscarried naturally at home a week after finding out that the pregnancy wasn’t viable. So I didn’t know then and I still feel in the unknown now. Knowing that- I both want to wait in case I miscarry but I also want to tell her right away, so if I do miscarry, I can be honest about any needed time away. Just looking for advice. When did you/are you going to tell your boss?
Re: When to tell your boss?
I haven’t told anyone at work yet, but I’m sure they’re noticing that something’s up. Initially I wanted to wait until second trimester, but I’m miserably sick, peeing all the time, and my snacking habits have definitely changed. I think I’m going to tell them after the first ultrasound. I’m in a really male-dominated field and I halfway just want to hang up ultrasound pictures at my desk and wait for them to notice.
