Book and podcast recommendations?

Hi everyone! I don’t know if it’s just me but I’m obsessed with consuming any info I can regarding pregnancy, labor and parenting. My specific interests include: Home-birth/natural birth and home-schooling, but open to any resources.

FYI - I’m a first time mom so this is all new to me and I’m just super eager to educate myself.

Re: Book and podcast recommendations?

  • I had an unmedicated labor and birth for my son almost 3 years ago (and I plan to homeschool him too!). The mamaste fit podcast is helpful, and they also have a great Instagram with tons of good info. The most helpful books I read were Cut your Labor in Half, and Hypnobirthing because they had tangible concrete strategies to use.

    I’m sure at some point we can start a natural/unmedicated birthing thread on here for more detailed recommendations, but it might be helpful to look through the Spinning Babies website now too! They have a TON of info that’s gold! Those exercises and positioning techniques are what turned my week long prodromal labor into the real deal, and then my son was born 4.5 hours later! 🫠

  • This is so helpful, thank you! And yes would love a natural birthing thread
  • When I was pregnant the first time (20 years ago!! Lol) What to Expect When You're Expecting and What to Expect During the first Year were amazing!;
  • The Birth Lounge Podcast is one of my favorites! For books: Expecting Better, Mindful Mom to Be,
  • Books you should ABSOLUTELY check out Cribsheet by Emily Oster <3

    Although it's somewhat geared toward providers, this overview of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (click here) was super informative!
