    Timing/CS: waiting for fertile window

How are things going? Any questions?: I stayed home and canceled all of our plans this weekend to avoid getting another virus. I need to be healthy again plus last cycle it affected our timing because I wasn’t feeling good.

R/R: we have had a windstorm for 3 days now. I’m tired of this winter. We are getting a light dusting of snow and then the next few days will be cold and sunny. It’s needs to drop a foot of snow before it gets cold and sunny. I’m sick of ice.
  • WAYDTGKU (BD/TI/IVF/FET/Benched/etc.): BD and waiting for a match for embryo adoption

WTO/TWW: TWW (I think. One more high temp will confirm)

    Timing/CS: -5, -1

How are things going? Any questions?: Looks like I finally O’ed, which is a good sign! So far temps are still lower than they normally are post-O, but still a clear shift so maybe I’m just still regulating. For the embryo adoption, we had our pre-matching meeting to go over preferences, so now we just wait for someone to choose us! Hopefully it won’t be too long of a wait.

R/R: I finally caught the cold that’s been going around, but so far I’m way less sick than everyone else has been so I think the garlic and honey is still helping me

How are things going? Any questions?: Things are going ok. It is what it is at this point.

R/R: It's busy season with our kids. Our middle is a very gifted athlete and it's comp season. I'm so tired from being at a comp all weekend.

@emeraldcity603 Where I live (Rocky Mountain West) we tend to get cold temps early in winter but the snow often comes late, even into spring. Do you have a similar kind of pattern in Alaska?
@britters314 Sorry to hear you're down with the flu, it feels like this winter has been particularly bad for airborne illnesses. Glad the honey garlic is doing its job. FX you can confirm ovulation tomorrow, and can focus on recovery without having to worry about the fertile window!
@mambo5-2 I say this as an avid fan of comp sports that require a lot of travel (current faves are sport climbing and women's artistic gymnastics): comp sports seem completely exhausting. I don't know how people do it.

How are things going? Any questions?: Feeling good Just trying to keep distracted and sane until the hCG blood test next Monday. The clinic would usually test 9 days after transfer, but since that falls on a Saturday we have to wait a little longer. I don't intend to test early—never have. We'll see how I feel as the days drag on.

R/R: I'm really bummed by the news that Joann Fabrics is filing for bankruptcy yet again. They were bought out by private equity a while back so it's not shocking that they're being stripped for parts now. But they've been my go-to supplier for knitting and embroidery supplies for going on a decade now. I'm not excited to find someplace new.

  • @britters314 honey garlic do your thing 🙏 I know it’ll be a relief to confirm O and focus on getting better.

@aisleofviewtwo I haven’t shopped at Joann’s BUT I feel you so much on hating having to find a new supplier for crafty things.  My supplier for an affordable cotton yarn just stopped making it.  People are selling it on eBay but of course for $$$.

How are things going? Any questions?:  I had my progesterone and estradiol drawn today (3dpo) and started supplemental progesterone.

R/R:  Saturday is 8dpo so I’ll test then.  I wasn’t sure how this week would go but it’s a busy week this week and I’m glad for it.

  • @britters314 I have some fancy honey from Hawaii and I’m thinking of making your garlic honey concoction.

@mambo5-2 I have downsized our weekly activities and it was the best decision I ever made.

@aisleofviewtwo in the last several years we get dumped on (several feet in a week multiple times) and then regular dusting of snow all season. December being the first bout of heavier snow. January and February brings more sunshine because temps stay below zero the majority of the time. We get snow in the spring sometimes but the sun is out in full force so there is more melting. Once our days start getting longer and the sun stays out it gets warm fast. By warm I mean 30-45 degrees. 😅
I’m also sad about Joann’s. I have no clue where I will buy fabric up here now. I guess I’ll have to order online.

@virginiaham I won’t be testing until 9DPO this cycle. I’m shocked at how many indents I got. I hope you get clear positives!

I'll come back tomorrow to respond to everyone, just giving a quick update while it's on my mind.

    WAYDTGKU (BD/TI/IVF/FET/Benched/etc.): BD

    WTO/TWW: WTO

Timing/CS: I'm bummed at having apparently missed my window entirely last month as I seem to have ovulated nearly a week later. Currently hanging with aunt Flo

How are things going? Any questions?: I'm feeling a bit frustrated with myself. Last cycle my OPK tested positive 2 days sooner than expected so we BD on the supposed O day but then all that following week I had EWC and was feeling more randy than usual but we were so busy and I thought my window was over anyway based on OPK that I didn't push for BD and now feeling like I should have and missed my opportunity. Aunt Flo arrived 6 days later than expected which is the first since I can even remember. I know there's the whole it's regular until it isn't, but it's making me think I O'd a week later and although the signs appeared to be there I ignored them because apparently I still can't seem to pinpoint my own body. Just irritated with myself, but we're in a new cycle now so gotta move on.

    R/R: see above
  • @aisleofviewtwo I had the normal test day fall on a Saturday for one of my FETs and it sucked to have to wait until Monday. FX it’s worth the wait and you get a BFP! Also I hadn’t heard that about Joann’s and idk what I’ll do for fabric if they close down!
  • @peppyj9 I would always trust CM over LH strip. After ovulation you should notice a considerable change in sensation. I had this same issue last cycle too and it threw me for a loop.

@emeraldcity603 @britters314 I think I read Joann has until March 15 to find a new buyer, so I guess there's still hope! I did learn from a Michael's employee in December that they've started stocking fabric to compete with Joann, but the supply was super limited (like maybe one aisle) and they hadn't even given staff proper gear to cut and measure with...  :| I should look around for a local quilting or yarn store, I'm in a big enough metro area I feel like one could maybe survive here.

@virginiaham Fingers and toes crossed!! How's the supplemental progesterone treating you?

@peppyj9 I'm sorry last cycle turned out to be such a frustrating one. I never bothered with OPKs, but I've heard people can have a few LH surges before ovulation actually occurs. Sounds like maybe that's what happened to you here—though of course if your body doesn't have a history of doing that, why would you expect it this time?? Ugh. Hang in there. Your next fertile week will be here soon  <3

    Timing/CS: Waiting for opk rise

How are things going? Any questions?: Just got back from traveling again, so I'm glad to be home.

    TW (LC):

I weaned my little one right before our trip. I was sad to be done with breastfeeding but hopefully it will help my fertility. I've heard that in some cases it can cause issues with pregnancies, not sure how scientifically backed that is. I'm really grateful that we had the trip to distract us. I was still sad but it seemed completely painless for him. He was out of his routine and distracted and happy and he didn't even remember to ask for nursing like he normally would at bedtime.

R/R: Not really a Rant but frustrating: I brought up going to the fertility clinic again and spouse had a big no reaction. I'm going to try and be patient for a couple months and then if we're not pregnant by March I think I'm going to push for it a bit. I really don't want to wait forever. I think he can't comprehend that I don't have that many years to keep trying if we want two more kids with reasonable spacing.
  • @aisleofviewtwo I wish we had more stores that could compete. We actually have a really big Joann’s here and it’s been super nice. I will probably go stock up on a bunch of fabric before March.

It’s always sad to wean a baby. I have only ever had to force one of my babies and it was because I had dried up and he didn’t care. I swear he would still be nursing at the age of 5. I hope this helps your fertility and I’m glad it didn’t seem to be stressful for your LO.

  • I should look around for a local quilting or yarn store, I'm in a big enough metro area I feel like one could maybe survive here.
You would think that would be true, but I live in Chicago, the third largest city in the US, and I have not found another fabric store in the city (or at least not anywhere near me). Plus other stores would probably be way more expensive since they won’t have all the coupons that Joann’s does
  • @britters314 😳 ok that’s truly wild! I’m sure someone will eventually fill the void, but I think you’re right, it’s unlikely to be convenient, cheap, or soon..
  • @aisleofviewtwo we have done competitive gymnastics, now we cheerlead. She's an insane athlete but I'm so tired.

  • @ferret22 I'm sorry to hear the conversation with your husband wasn't a productive one this time. I hope you are able to keep an open dialogue and find a way forward that addresses both of your concerns and meets everyone's needs <3
  • WAYDTGKU (BD/TI/IVF/FET/Benched/etc.): BD/TI

WTO/TWW: WTO...I need to figure out my timing because I think I O relatively early and my cycles have been way shorter lately.

    Timing/CS: Waiting for FW

How are things going? Any questions?: My husband keeps vacillating towards having another child. I know deep down he wants one but I think he gets a little freaked out when things get particularly rough/hard with our toddler. He himself is an only child and never really wanted a sibling, so he's all "you want to do this AGAIN?"

R/R: I got a fancy fertility app that is supposed to track estrogen, LH, progesterone, and FSH but I can't get the damn thing to work on my phone. It says I don't need to start testing until Saturday so I am hoping I can figure it out before then and don't need to buy a whole new kit. ALSO, my husband is going on a work trip next week right when I suspect I'll be in the fertile window, so that's kind of a bummer.
  • l3monl3mon member
    WAYDTGKU): AHI

    WTO/TWW: TWW

    Timing/CS: 0

How are things going? Any questions?: Things are good so far, it's our first cycle/month of trying. Still trying to figure things out.

    R/R:
  • @fifilala516 I see you switched to TWW in the midweek update, did you end up ovulating earlier than expected? My understanding is that the fertility apps run on an algorithm that uses data from across all users, so I (who also ovulate on the earlier side) view their predictions with a pretty healthy dose of skepticism.... I'd rather trust my body than an algo.

@l3mon Every time I think I've learned all the acronyms I meet a new one. And my attempt to google "ahi ttc" just turned up a bunch of forums with women wanting to know if they can eat tuna while trying to conceive :D Remind me what AHI is?
  • @aisleofviewtwo I didn’t post in the midweek update. I am pretty sure my FW just opened up so I’m still WTO. I do in fact need a new kit but they’re sending me a replacement at no cost.
  • @fifilala516 Omg you’re right, I’m so sorry, I guess we’ve officially got enough people in TTGP that I’m getting stuff mixed up! It’s great that they’re replacing at no cost, those things aren’t cheap.
  • l3monl3mon member
@aisleofviewtwo I meant AHI as at home insemination, but maybe there is a better acronym for that?
  • @l3mon Nope, that’s perfect! It actually came to me last night while I was battling insomnia ☺️ Just slipped my mind yesterday.
