Ultrasound results

Had a 14 week ultrasound today. Now reading the results after being told everything is fine and it says….

There is a subchorionic hematoma at the inferior edge of the placenta, measuring 38.1 x 12.4 x 45.9 cm, adjacent to the placental cord insertion.

She mentioned it during ultrasound but asked if I had been bleeding at all I said no and she said nothing else. Then the doc said everything looked great.

Also there is mention of a cyst on my left ovary that I never knew anything about… that says

Lt ovarian cyst(s): Cysts identified Lt ovarian cyst D1 18.6 mm Lt ovarian cyst D2 15.4 mm Lt ovarian cyst D3 10.2 mm Lt ovarian cyst mean 14.7 mm Lt ovarian cyst vol 1.530 cm cubed Lt ovarian cyst findings: Paratubal cyst

Of course I googled and now am so confused. Anyone have this happen to them ?

Re: Ultrasound results

  • Cysts are typically minor. Many women have cysts and don’t even know it.

I also had a hematoma and my ob said it could cause spotting but also could just be absorbed without any symptom.

  • I’ve had cysts before and while they are scary mine have self resolved (they can just dissolve back into you I guess). If you’re super concerned give your doctor a call to follow up.
  • I have a cyst on my left ovary as well. I’ve not had any issues and they didn’t even mention it in my most recent ultrasound, just saw it on the portal. I was aware of this previously because of an ultrasound for a different reason, but my doctor said no concerns at the time and that cysts frequently occur.

Best thing to do if you’re worried is to call your doctor, as they can speak specifically to your ultrasound results.
  • When I had my miscarriage back in March 2024 I also had a cyst on my left ovary. My ob said that it’s perfectly normal and that most women have a cyst(s), usually on the left side when pregnant.

She said that for the most part they are relatively small in size and go away after a while and are usually harmless.
