Private group migration post!!

1. I don’t have a preference! I used the bump last pregnancy the whole time but I am open to change 

2. I do not have facebook and do not really want to create one. I have never used discord but would not be against it.  I’ve also used Reddit that is fairly easy to peruse.

3. I don’t have anyone to nominate but I would be okay with being admin if needed

Yes! Our conversations about pregnancy and baby will likely become more and more personal - let’s move sooner rather than later.

My preference is discord because you can organize threads very easily and because I realize some folks don’t do facebook. But if the group goes Facebook, that’s ok with me. DD1 & DD2 groups went to Facebook and DS group went discord so it doesn’t matter to me.

With this being baby #4 I can’t commit to admin. I’m sorry! @mcmanda4321 are you interested?

Yeah I definitely don't mind doing it! I haven't used discord before, but I'm sure I can figure it out. I was hoping to get a few more people interested before figuring it all out, but I agree we should do it soon!

I'm interested. Def. Discord for me. I take breaks from Facebook often for my own mental health.

Hi! Yes I’m interested in migrating discussion. I don’t have facebook anymore and have not tried discord but would be happy to try it (it can’t be that hard). I don’t know that I can commit to the admin role. @gravcass would you be willing to admin? I feel like you’ve been one of our admins on this group!

I’m interested in trying out a discord group. I’m not super active on my phone so I might not be a great option for being an admin but if we really needed an extra person, I could try to help out the best I could here and there.

Any suggestions on how to migrate everyone safely? With my last group, everyone who was interested in joining has to comment and get 6 likes. Once you got six likes you could message the admins a picture of your bump and the date written on a piece of paper to prove you are real and actually pregnant, then the admin would send you a link. The only problem I foresee with that is this group has a lot less active participants than my last group. Do we just reduce the number of likes? 

I'm open to other suggestions as well to verify identity for safety purposes!

This is a good question and you’ll have to forgive me- I’m not really sure how discord works. Can we share our handles in here and then the person putting the group together can “invite us” to the group in discord?

That could work. I guess the "likes" mechanism and the DM picture is to make sure none of us are randos who aren't actually participating regularly or are not really pregnant women 😂 like if a random username I haven't seen asks to be added to the private group, the likes mechanism helps to make sure other people do or do not want them added as well haha

In my last group we had all were locked in the “intro” discord thread until we posted a picture of ourselves (face and bump visible), user name, first name, due date and a specific item (it was a carrot for us- something you can’t easily google a pregnant lady holding but something you can find in most homes). Once we did that, the admins would “unlock” the user and they could access the rest of our threads

Yes!! (I find this app and forum not fun to navigate)

No preference - seems like discord is preferred & I have never used but am willing to learn!

I am open to being a supportive admin, again have never used discord so probably best to not be a lead! (And would love to be assigned specific days of the week we are in charge of to keep me accountable!)

@knottie622a8d062545e43d I was hoping to have just this May 2025 group in a discord server. Is that what you were intending or is this just for all pregnant women? 

@cuveema12-23 @gravcass you two seem to be pretty active and have experience with other bump groups, would you be down to help admin? I feel like it wouldn't be a huge undertaking, just setting up a few channels and unlocking users. I made a server, I can add you to help set it up and then we can share with everyone?

@mcmanda I would be willing. I've never been on Diacord so have a bit of a learning curve. My daughter's birthday took up my time this weekend so getting back into things now 🤣
