Hysteroscopy D&C

So I had 2 polyps 3 years ago that shed by taking birth control. Fast forward to now, I am 9 months postpartum and i got another ultrasound done to check for polyps. No polyps but my endometrial lining was 8.3mm on day 3 of my super heavy periods. My gyn's nurse called and said everything looked fine and that it was normal to be that thick during menstrual cycle "because the doctor said everything looked fine" she then bluntly told me my options were: Try birth control again, or do a hysteroscopy d&c. I asked WHY?! Why do I need any of that if everything was ok? And of course she didn't know what to tell me. Does any of this sound normal to you guys?
