7 weeks & UTI

I am just now 7 weeks pregnant and have been drinking my weight in water! The problem is I don’t always go to the restroom immediately and now I feel like I have a UTI. What is something I can do or take that is safe since I’m only 7 weeks along??

Re: 7 weeks & UTI

  • I had a really bad UTI with my first. The pain was so severe I thought I was dealing with loss. (She’s a happy 14 year old now) My best advice is just see your doctor. And continue to drink plenty of water. Best of luck!!! Congratulations.

  • @knottie677ec3f5be5f441e Congratulations on your pregnancy! Staying hydrated is essential, but it’s understandable that you might be experiencing some discomfort. To alleviate the feeling of a UTI, consider increasing your water intake even more to help flush out any potential bacteria. Additionally, cranberry juice can be beneficial, but make sure it’s 100% pure and unsweetened.

However, since you're only 7 weeks along, it's crucial to consult with your healthcare provider before taking any supplements or medications. They can recommend safe options tailored to your situation. Don't hesitate to reach out for professional advice; it's better to be cautious during this important time. Take care of yourself!
  • hmm, maybe try to drink a bit less at once and space it out more, but definitely check with your doc if you're feeling that way!

Just looked it up on the 'Heal Baby Care App' and here’s what it says:

"It's great that you're staying hydrated, but feeling like you have a UTI can be uncomfortable. To help alleviate symptoms, try to drink cranberry juice, which may help prevent bacteria from adhering to the urinary tract, but ensure it’s unsweetened. Additionally, consider increasing your bathroom visits by setting reminders to go every couple of hours, even if you don't feel the urge.

If symptoms persist or worsen, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider for proper evaluation and treatment, as UTIs can require antibiotics that are safe during pregnancy. Have you noticed any specific symptoms, like burning during urination or increased urgency?"
