How’s your weight gain so far

I know it is a sensitive topic, but all I could find from reading was recommended avg. wt gain per week from second trimester (14wks), so thought to ask folks their experience.
I am almost 16wks and haven’t been able to gain any weight, which is making me worried. I started out with a healthy weight, so I had reserve for sure. I also feel like maybe weight gain is not constant avg. over weeks as recommendations suggest, but may be as spurts in some. This is my first pregnancy and have nothing to compare to and not being able to add a single pound yet is making me nervous.

Re: How’s your weight gain so far

  • This is my second pregnancy and I’ve gained about 10 pounds so far at 19 weeks. For my first pregnancy I gained 27 pounds but had started at a lower weight. This time around the weight is just coming on quicker lol

  • Thank you for sharing. I asked a few of my friends and they, too, had different answers on when they started gaining weight , and all of them had healthy deliveries. So guess I should take the recommendation for total weight gain, instead of worrying about weekly.

My first I gained like 5lbs first tri, 10 second then most came on in the last month.

Second was sooner but followed the same pattern.

This one I've gained like 15lbs already and I'm 16 weeks in.
Every pregnancy is different, every woman is different. As long as baby is looking good I wouldn't stress. I know a few women who actually loose weight during the first two trimesters.
  • This is my second pregnancy and I am overweight to begin with. I’m usually 130 and I was 154 when I first got pregnant and I’m around the same now in the second trimester. My midwife tells me that it’s good I haven’t gained weight and to lay off the bagels.

My first pregnancy I was 147 when I got pregnant and delivered at 166 lbs. it might not seem like a lot but my first baby was completely healthy at 9lbs

im also 39 years old so there’s a lot of concern for my age with weight.
