How are you feeling?: Nervous, I have my first appointment this Friday and I have spent too much time online reading about all the things that can go wrong. Tried to stay positive and not get anxious but as the appointment gets closer it’s harder!!
Rants/Raves: Rant- I am fairly young and the first of my friends to be pregnant, it feels pretty lonely and at times can be hard as I feel I don’t have anyone to relate to. We are also waiting to announce until around the 13 or 14 week mark so it feels pretty isolating!
Questions: Did anyone’s symptoms ease up in week 9? I feel my nausea has subsided a little and i’m not throwing up nearly as much. Also my boobs are not feeling as sore as they were in weeks 4-7. Trying not to freak myself out but i’m getting nervous😖
Hii!! First time mom here as well. I just hit week 8 today and I’m experiencing the same thing with my symptoms. Though my symptoms were relatively mild so far, they now seem to be lessening even more and it has me a bit anxious. Of course I did the one thing you probably shouldn’t do and googled..🤦🏼♀️ I have my first ultrasound in 2 days.
My symptoms have been easing back as well. Almost 12 weeks here and they started becoming more manageable about week 9. I had the week from hell around 7/8 and then some respite.
Just a reminder and maybe some reassurance....symptoms ease up alot around this time because the placenta is starting to do some of the heavy lifting hormone wise!
"Although each pregnancy is different, you can expect the placenta to take over around weeks 8 to 12 of pregnancy, with 10 weeks being the average time for most women."
Team blue/pink/green: not finding out and no suspicions yet, I did have a dream it was a boy this week
Upcoming Appointments: maternal fetal medicine called me today but didn’t get my testing scheduled yet (missed the call) going back to my ob on Halloween!
How are you feeling?: terrible still. I’ve seen some hope of improvement but followed by a worse day.
Rants/Raves: I want to feel better. I want the blood vessels in my face to heal so I stop looking like I have a funky half faced sunburn. And I want to enjoy food.
Questions:… none today
GTKY: What's your favorite podcast? This is a good question! I haven’t been listening much lately but I like goal digger, happier, the empowered wife.
Team blue/pink/green: I know it's a boy because we had genetic testing done on my embryos
Upcoming Appointments: 8 week u/s on Thursday!
How are you feeling?: Nervous. We had a 6 week ultrasound and everything was fine. We heard the heartbeat and everything but I still worry that something could've changed in the past two weeks.
Rants/Raves: None
Questions: Nothing, really
GTKY: What's your favorite podcast? I don't really listen to any except my morning news during my commute. My husband and I also like listening to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me on NPR
Team blue/pink/green: unknown- getting NIPT test next week and so excited to find out!
Upcoming Appointments: 10/22 for my 12 week appt
How are you feeling?: sometimes good, sometimes bad. Definitely less nauseous but I keep expecting to feel less exhausted and it hasn’t happened yet, going to bed at like 8 every night.
Rants/Raves: had a huge fight with my husband about getting the nursery ready. I want to get as much done before I get too pregnant (had really bad back pain starting at like 28weeks until birth). He just keeps saying we have time- but this time around the first trimester has gone so fast so I already feel a sense of urgency.
Questions: none- to add on my symptoms (except exhaustion) have definitely gotten better after week 9.
GTKY: What's your favorite podcast? For pregnancy I like Down to Birth- great positive birth stories, and uses evidence based birth practices
Not for pregnancy I like the history podcast Betwixt the Sheets- funny and feminist historical look at loads of topics and eras
Upcoming Appointments: I am currently sitting in the waiting room to get a blood draw for my NIPT test. It's taking forever so this is a good chance to do my check in!
How are you feeling?: So nauseated. I'm full force with the diclectin to help it, which does make it manageable, but also makes me REALLY exhausted.
Rants/Raves: Rave - it's full on fall weather here in Vancouver. I love the colours and how beautiful it is in the fall, and my toddler loves being outside, so that is really nice right now.
Questions: natm
GTKY: What's your favorite podcast? "Stop Podcasting Yourself" by some local comedians
Upcoming Appointments: 12 week appointment on 10/24
How are you feeling?: I’ve been waking up with headaches nearly every morning. They go away after I get up and eat breakfast/drink some water but it’s been an annoying way to start nearly every day.
Rants/Raves: My first born just turned 2! My husband and I both took the day off work and brought her to a pumpkin patch/corn maze. It was a blast but man, I feel like it was just yesterday that we were counting down the days till she was born!
Questions: none right now
GTKY: What's your favorite podcast? I’ve never listened to podcasts regularly so I don’t have a favorite. I just listen to recommendations that I get here or there.
gravcass This is very reassuring!! Thank you!! I keep reminding myself that having anxiety over everything is not going to change the outcome. It’s hard to do but necessary!!! first appointment tomorrow!
I am still learning to use this app and reply so apologies if this is not the right formatting. I wanted to say I’m thinking about you today and sending good energy to you! Hope your first appointment goes well and I am confident it will. We got this💪🩷☀️
Upcoming Appointments: I am having my first pregnancy related medical appointment next week (10/22)! It's a phone intake call with the midwife clinic that I registered with. I applied and was accepted into this clinic shortly after I had my positive test (4 weeks) so I am excited and looking forward to seeing what the next steps are.
How are you feeling?: I had a number of symptoms throughout weeks 5 & 6 and then 7 I felt like I was on eggshells just waiting to see if things would flare up again. 8 was pretty calm and then around 9w3d I became really exhausted again and have started to normally after dinner have some questionable moments around whether I'll be keeping things down or not. I guess the good news surprisingly though is I actually haven't vomited yet. Definitely have had a number of close calls (have even tucked a precautionary plastic bag into the driver's side door of my car ) but so far, it's been a lot of feelings with no follow through.
Rants/Raves: Really hoping what they say about the 2nd trimester and energy is true for me! My husband is picking up what he can but I've been fighting feelings around not contributing in household upkeep as much. And then immediately reminding myself that my body is busy, growing our child.
Questions: Has anyone started to examine names everywhere in their daily life? I feel like I read or hear a name and then have to mentally pause to think about it.
GTKY: What's your favorite podcast? I find true crime series interesting, a couple I've found to be really well done include "Chameleon" and "Canadian True Crime". I've also recently been listening to a podcast called "The Competition" that has been very interesting. It's about a program in the states called "Distinguished Young Women". I'd never heard of DYW before and find it fascinating.
Upcoming Appointments: I’ve had two ultrasounds and next appt is Nov 4th
How are you feeling?: good. I’m recovering from a cold right now so stuffy. But good. Peeing a lot. Excited and nervous.
Rants/Raves: I’m tired and have two other kiddos to parent while growing two more humans. I’m not far along so I hope second trimester I get some more energy!
Questions: I need a good recommendation for double or triple strollers
GTKY: What's your favorite podcast?: not a huge podcast girl but I’m open to start. The only one I’ve listened to in the past is Smartless
