October Randoms!

Kicking off the October randoms thread

I’ve felt so guilty about my caffeine consumption this pregnancy 🥲 with my first I cut out all caffeine but would have the occasional decaf coffee. But pregnancy with a toddler is a different level! I cannot function without coffee. I stay within the “recommended” intake but it’s a daily thing most of the time🙃 I’m not a tea gal. Anyone have any alternatives that helped them? Or just make me feel less bad about it 😅😂

Re: October Randoms!

  • @paigemm23 I drank coffee my whole first pregnancy and usually a soda or tea at dinner. I got terrible withdrawal headaches without it. No issues with my pregnancy or baby. I have a new OB for this pregnancy and his recommendation is a lower caffeine limit than my prior OB, and I've just decided to follow my old OB's recommendation. No guilt! Pregnancy with a toddler is hard!

  • @paigemm23 oh gurl, I drank my full daily allotment (and likely a touch more) in my first pregnancy, and now I’m on a new level of 2-3 small cups a day. Better than my ADHD stimulants, I tell myself 🤪 but in all seriousness, a psychiatrist on our clinic was on her full dose of Vyvanse (adhd stimulant) for all 3 of her pregnancies and her girls are so healthy and wonderful. She was obviously monitored by her own psychiatrist at the time, it doesn’t come without risk, and I’m choosing not to be on them. So I’m rationalizing my coffee use by reminding myself I’m sacrificing my brain function and mood for the baby (happy to do it), and an extra coffee every 3-4 days will be fine.

And you will be okay with a couple of small coffees a day! Don't feel guilty, word on the street is so much is different with a second pregnancy AND second baby.
  • I told my girl cousins I was pregnant and they all conference-called me on FT. Turns out my cousin who got married last year is also pregnant!! She is still early, she’s due in May. But I’m so excited for her!! It’s also so cute because our moms were pregnant at the same time, twice. She was born 4 months after my sister, and her older brother and I were born 3 weeks apart. And now their daughters are also pregnant at the same time 🥰 it’s her first baby so I hope she is able to make my sister’s wedding the end of August in Greece! How cute if we had all our babies there?
  • Thank you both!!! It’s nice knowing I’m not the only one with a caffeine addiction 🤣 tried not having a coffee the other day and had the worst headache I’ve had in a while!

@dunder_mifflin, I was pregnant with my sister in law with my first(her second) and it was so fun to have someone to relate to every step of the way!! I was kinda hoping she’d be my pal this time around too
  • @dunder_mifflin I was 3 months ahead of my sister for my first and her third pregnancy. It was not as exciting to me even though I love my sister. Not bad either just not exciting. But what I do love is how my son loves being the big cousin. They're so sweet together just like myself and my cousin who was 3 months younger. It'd be so cool if you had both babies at the wedding!
  • I do my own latte every morning, I hope everything will be fine for us 🫶🏼
