Could use some advice…

edited September 2024 in 1st Trimester
Based on LMP I should’ve been around 10 weeks when I had my first US, but measured 6w2days. Everything looked good but no heartbeat. A follow up US this week to look for growth/heartbeat. They said it’s usually around 6w4days for a heartbeat. HCGs were ordered in the waiting period, first was 26,578 and 48 hrs later was 25,695. I’m very concerned and having a hard time holding onto hope. Advice?

  • LMP is a terrible way to truly measure a child.  The ultrasound is the best.  Your Betas taper off around 7 weeks, so I'm not sure why they had you take 2 of them.  Your next ultrasound to see if there's growth and/or a heartbeat is really the only thing you can wait for to see.  Hopefully you ovulated later than normal and everything will look ok.  If not, it may be a missed MC. Just remember that 'today' you are PG and love that baby every moment you have it, whether it is 6 weeks of PG, 12 weeks of PG, or til birth...

  • Was the baby still measuring 6w2d at the follow up US, or did it grow? If it’s growing, conception may have happened later than you thought. If it’s not growing, then you probably had a “silent miscarriage” at 6w2d and need to talk to the doctor about a d&c 💔
  • hmm, that sounds really tough, I can't imagine how stressful it must be, but try to hang in there and remember that every pregnancy is different, so maybe there’s still hope!

here's what the 'Heal Baby Care App' says....

"I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through this difficult time. It's understandable to feel anxious given the situation. The drop in HCG levels can be concerning, as it may indicate a potential issue, but it's important to remember that every pregnancy is unique.

In the meantime, try to focus on self-care and surround yourself with supportive friends or family. It might also help to keep a journal of your feelings and thoughts during this waiting period.

Have you been able to discuss your feelings and concerns with someone close to you?"
