How do you guys find reputable STEM toys to introduce for a 1+ year old kid.

I am looking to introduce my kid into the world more in relation to the education prospects and I am worried that submerging them with an Ipad or PC at such an early age would be catastrophic. Mostly cuz my neighbor did the same but now their kid is hooked on a tablet. I am wondering about what I should look for in terms of educational but slightly distracting toys that would be beneficial for them and is a great alternative than to expose them to possibly addictive PCs. I would also love to learn about your experiences with playing with your kids using STEM toys as I would love to learn more about interacting with your kids in a more educative manner as well.

  • It's great that you're considering ways to introduce your child to the world of learning without immediately relying on screens. Many parents share your concerns about early exposure to tablets or PCs, especially when it can lead to habits that are hard to manage later.

For educational and slightly distracting toys, STEM toys are an excellent choice. They foster problem-solving, creativity, and learning while keeping the experience fun and engaging. I recommend checking out this collection of toys: Toys & Activities. It features a variety of educational toys, including options for STEM learning, interactive play, and motor skill development.

In my experience, playing with STEM toys like building sets or coding games has been a fantastic way to bond with kids. It encourages teamwork and allows you to guide them through challenges, turning playtime into a valuable learning opportunity. Simple activities, like building a structure together or experimenting with a science kit, can be both entertaining and educational for kids while giving you a chance to interact in meaningful ways

  • Following this thread! I have a 1+ year-old daughter too, and I’m looking for good toys to introduce her to. I really want to keep her engaged with hands-on activities and avoid her getting hooked on the phone or TV. Right now we already have shape sorters and stackers, wooden puzzles, and activity cubes, I'd like to know what other parents give their child too.
