1st Trimester

Early pregnancy anxiety

My husband and I just started trying for our first and got pregnant immediately. I feel very lucky and grateful, but anxiety set in just as much as the excitement. My mind keeps wandering, thinking about what could go wrong, fear of doctors appointments, birth, all of it haha.

Any words of comfort at this stage would be super helpful ♥️

Re: Early pregnancy anxiety

  • As someone with RPL, the only thing you can do is remember to love that baby every day that you have it.  Whether that is 6 weeks of PG, 10 weeks of PG, or through a live birth, just remember that "Today I am PG" and love it that day.  You don't have control over what will happen, and cannot stop a MC if you are going to have one.  Also, although the statistics say that 1 in 4 women will have a MC in their lives, most women don't have RPL, so multiple losses is not common.  So, the statistics really are in your favor.

    MC #1: D&C Oct 23, 2015 (7.5 weeks)
    MC #2: July 1, 2016 (5.5 weeks)
    MC #3: October 17, 2016 (CP)
    RE #1: RPL testing November 2016-January 2017
    MC #4: Feb. 28, 2017 (CP)
    RE #2: Additional RPL testing March-November 2017
    MC #5: January 2019 (6.5 weeks)

    RE #3: More testing 2023.
Egg Retrieval Sept/Oct 2023, 2 good embryos after PGT-A testing.
    Surgery for endometriosis January 2024
Lupron Depo March 2024.  Benched 3 months.

    FET #1: June 3, 2024 (failed)

Lupron Depo June 2024. Benched 3 months again before next FET.

    FET #2: September 2024 (failed)

    FET #3: December 2024 (failed)

  • Hi knottie. I'm in pretty much exactly the same situation! My mum keeps reminding me to take things one day at a time, and that right now I'm healthy and happy with no reason to think that anything would go wrong - so I'll pass that message on to you  . I have my first midwife appointment in 5 days and I'm actually kind of looking forward to it. It will be nice to feel like I have some guidance!
  • Thank you so much for your reply… I admire your ability to offer support to other people going through pregnancy anxiety despite your own experience. I find myself thinking about your words daily since I read your kind message. ♥️♥️♥️
  • I’m hearing this a lot, one day at a time and enjoying the moment. Thank you so much for your reply! Good luck at your appointment, it’s going to be great!!! 😊
  • I have never had anxiety like this current pregnancy. I have done hypnobirthing with my last few births and pregnancies. I highly recommend listening to those meditations on YouTube. They help so much during pregnancy and birth. It made birth so amazing for me. Give it a try. Anxiety and stress are no good for you or baby. Congratulations!!!
  • Not sure if this is reassuring but you’re a mom now that anxiety will stick with you for life lol. Sounds like you’re just a good mom, you will worry about their safety and wellbeing until you leave this earth and all that time you will love them with all you have. It’s beautiful and terrifying and all part of the job. I’m currently pregnant with my second and having all the same fears I had with my first with an added on how will my daughter react if something happens when she also loves this new baby in my belly so much. Welcome to the mom club it’s the best! And the hardest😅
  • totally get that, it's like a rollercoaster of emotions, but just take it one day at a time and try to focus on the little joys, you got this! ❤️

this is what the 'Heal Baby Care App' mentioned… hope it helps!

"It's completely normal to feel a mix of excitement and anxiety during this time. Remember, many people experience similar feelings when expecting their first child. Focusing on the positive aspects, like the joy of bringing new life into the world, can help ease your worries. Surround yourself with supportive friends and family, and consider practicing relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing or mindfulness, to help manage anxiety.
