How are you feeling?: Nausea has faded significantly, yay! Just don't want to eat anything really. Guess that's why my weight hasn't changed. Still tired and occasionally dizzy.
Rants/Raves: "And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again..."
Questions: Did anyone else's OB put in orders for a glucose test at their first appt?
GTKY: If you could meet any one person, living or dead, who would it be and why? Neil DeGrasse Tyson. I'm a total astronomy nerd but science was never my strong suit. I feel like I might have a chance of understanding it if I could hang out with him for a weekend.
Team blue/pink/green: I should be getting my Sneak Peek test results tomorrow.. having a small gender reveal Saturday!
Upcoming Appointments: August 31
How are you feeling?: Actually pretty decent! I hit 8 weeks and my nausea has gotten a lot better. I still gag every time I brush my teeth, but I don't have all day lingering queasiness anymore. Still exhausted by the end of every day. Also I am super irritable right now too.
Rants/Raves: My son's teacher decided to change the school supply list last night (she sent out the original one in June) after I've already purchased and packed up his bag to start on Thursday. Now I have supplies that aren't needed, and have to go back out last minute to grab new items. So frustrating.
Questions: Nothing right now!
GTKY: If you could meet any one person, living or dead, who would it be and why? I would choose to meet Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Her pioneering work for gender equality and her influential tenure as a Supreme Court Justice make her remarkable. Speaking with her about her experiences fighting for women's rights, her approach to interpreting the law, and her thoughts on the evolving landscape of justice would be incredible. Her dedication to fairness and equality, as well as her resilience in the face of adversity is inspiring.
No! My doctor hasn't said anything about a glucose test yet, and I didn't have it until my third trimester with my son. Do you have any history that would make them want to keep an eye on it from the beginning?
How are you feeling?: so relieved to see a heartbeat. Otherwise mainly tired.
Rants/Raves: my rant is the house of dragon finale
Questions: did anyone do genetic testing before 12 weeks? We have an optional one to test for recessive genes
GTKY: If you could meet any one person, living or dead, who would it be and why? Changes a bun ch but in honor of the Olympics I’ll say Jordan Chiles, grew up around gynmanstics and just love the energy she brings
@cortneylynnn After reviewing the progress note (thanks Apple Health!) I’m getting an early glucose test because my mom and sister are prediabetic, my race and postpartum hypertension after having my son.
@kas0211 I remember the midwife saying something about genetic testing, but I was so overjoyed by hearing the heartbeat that I was only half listening. I’m not sure if I want to know. DH and I got tested last year and we're boring, so I’ll probably hold off unless the NT or NIPT come back abnormal.
Baby is the size of a (an): blueberry! And apparently also a brookesia micra chameleon
Team blue/pink/green: husband and I have always said we wanted a girl first, but I’m “feeling” boy, husband accidentally said “he”, AND I had a boy dream lol
Upcoming Appointments: first ever is scheduled for August 26th. Feels like I’m counting the hours sometimes
How are you feeling?: Good, just tired! I’m one of the lucky ones that doesn’t get morning sickness at all, apparently (fingers crossed that won’t change)
Rants/Raves: I have guardianship of my teenage cousin and she missed her connecting bus to come back after spending a couple weeks out of state with other family, so I spent the night panicking and scrambling to figure out how to get her out of NYC at 1am. All good now but oh man, talk about worried and frustrated
Questions: anyone else running a much higher temp than usual? I know they go up during pregnancy but my normal went from 97.6 to 99.1
GTKY: If you could meet any one person, living or dead, who would it be and why? Ohhh this is a difficult one. Maybe Margaret Atwood. Her writing masterclass was phenomenal and I’d love to learn more from one of the greats in literature.
@dunder_mifflin I guess I was kinda talking about both so it’s all good they talked to me about a carrier test now and I think nipt at 12 weeks and I think we’ll pass on the carrier screen but do the nipt
Team blue/pink/green: team healthy, of course! But also we are hoping team pink. My dream has always been having sisters and we are such a girl family.
Upcoming Appointments: my first ultrasound tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy is viable - we are very excited and also nervous. Hoping for a healthy little bean and also for a singleton, lol!
How are you feeling?: the nausea has finally hit. I’m feeling horrible and a bit relieved since I didn’t “feel” as pregnant before nausea. my COVID symptoms have subsided, I’m sure I’m fine now. Thankfully it was mild! But I’m happy to be off sick this week while I deal with my pregnancy symptoms.
Rants/Raves: none today
Questions: none today
GTKY: If you could meet any one person, living or dead, who would it be and why? My paternal grandparents - I was named after my grandmother (if anyone has seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding, it’s a “Nick, Nick, Nick, Nicky” situation in my fam) and I have had the privilege to have my maternal grandparents be second parents to me, live around the corner, etc. but I never met my paternal grandparents (one passed before I was born, my grandfather never left the island my dad is from and we couldn’t afford to visit). My grandfather fought in an underground resistance in WW2 - badass! And my grandmother was apparently a sweetheart.
As for celebrities, man would I love to have lunch with Celine Dion 🥹 she is a freaking riot and just such a Canadian icon. Her comeback performance at the Paris Olympics was so emotional - I just love her! Glad I got to see her in concert in 2019 before her health issues really took hold.
Upcoming Appointments: my doctors office has still not scheduled my next appointment and I keep forgetting to call until they’re closed (pregnancy brain)
How are you feeling?: EXHAUSTED and queasy
Rants/Raves: I’m a teacher and started back at work this week. Holy moley!! I just thought BTS teacher tired was rough, but pregnant and chasing around my 4 year old during these PD days is wearing me out!! Can barely sleep, though with the general pregnancy anxiety, back to school scaries, pregnancy insomnia, and the sick stomach
Questions:
GTKY: If you could meet any one person, living or dead, who would it be and why? Kobe Bryant. He was the first thing my husband and I had a connection about when we met. We were both huge fans, and he was our favorite player. We both believe him to be the GOAT (don’t come for me Lebron and MJ fans). We got to see him play three or four times before he retired, and I think he could have done some really awesome things for basketball and the community after he retired had he not passed so soon.
Team blue/pink/green: pink but honestly I just want a healthy baby
Upcoming Appointments: August 19th first sonogram and appointment!!
How are you feeling?: EXHAUSTED
Rants/Raves: I’m planning a wedding that’s happening in 3 months. I’m so tired. Trying to go to the gym and just feeling a bit overwhelmed and like I wanna cry every two dang seconds.
Questions: nothing yet!
GTKY: If you could meet any one person, living or dead, who would it be and why? - Mary… I’m freaking out being pregnant with modern science and not a virgin. I’m not religious but grew up religious and they always paint her as so calm. How did she feel?? She had to have been feeling the same anxieties right? Also was Jesus really a perfect baby? What was that like? Was it hard to treat your other children the same after having literally the perfect child?

My doctor explained that test to us but I am not sure if we are going to do it or not yet. I'm planning on doing the NIPT once I hit 11 weeks.
