Trying to Get Pregnant

Alone and preparing to get pregnant

Hi. I am 28 years old and I am planning a pregnancy all alone. I don’t have anyone suitable who I have in mind to have a child with. I have always wanted a family and was born to be a mother. I don’t want to wait to have certain things that I thought I needed in my “plans” before.

My career path and future plans for my life were and are already clear.

I want my baby soon.

I am also from a single Mother household with a twin sister.

Anyone in my shoes? or has had a child alone by choice.

    QFP.

Chances are, you won't be getting a baby 'soon.'  Unless you have a 'someone' in mind to attempt to give you a baby the natural way, IUI/IVF is hella expensive and TIME consuming.  Like you cannot even begin to imagine HOW time consuming.  It makes you want to scream your head off into the void as you slowly watch yourself become super old and fat, and you still don't have a baby, but everyone else around you is on their 2nd/3rd/4th kid (that they maybe can't even afford), and you're going through ANOTHER test or ANOTHER blood draw.  You'll feel like a stuck guinea pig where you get stabbed with all of the things, your blood becomes their blood, you swallow immense amounts of medication, and you actually threaten to kill yourself if they schedule one more damned stupid-ass repeated test for seemingly no freaking reason before they attempt to implant you.  You'll be on so many medications, you thought you were a flaming psychopath BEFORE you started this part of your journey, and yet somehow you're even MORE insane.

So if you're set on this path (which, kudos to you!), make sure you're financially capable of the thousands upon thousands of dollars you'll be shelling out to even attempt to have a baby; you're an emotional rock, because you probably won't be before you even end up PG; and that you hopefully have a support system outside of a specific partner.

  • TBF, while it might be a long and difficult road to get pregnant with a sperm donor, not to mention expensive, it won’t necessarily be. If you don’t have any known fertility issues, you might even be able to inseminate yourself with the donor sperm instead of having to do IUI or IVF. But you should definitely talk to a doctor about your options and check to see what your insurance covers.
