Hey y’all. Curious how your sleep has been. Mine has been crap and I need to commiserate. If you feel like participating, here are some prompt questions:
1. How’s your quality of sleep on a scale from 0-10 (10 = amazing)?
2. How many times a night are you waking up to either use the bathroom or turn over?
3. What position do you fall asleep in?
4. What position do you usually wake up in?
5. Any sleep aids working for you (e.g. brand of pregnancy pillow, sleep divorce, snack before bed)?
6. Any extra gripes, raves, or things to add to the sleep convo?

Re: Sleep Poll
2. Maybe once, I don’t really wake to turn over, I sometimes wake to pee. Still not nightly though, that only happens the last month or two for me.
3. Always on my right side. I know I’m supposed to sleep on my left side but I have a deviated septum and I can’t breathe properly if on my left side!
4. it varies. Either side or on my back.
5. Pregnancy pillow, the full body type but it doesn’t wrap around. I don’t remember the brand. I’ll probably start using nostril strips soon to breathe easier.
6. Sleep has been better lately because we went on a two week vacation with a 9 hour difference (from Seattle to Oslo, Norway), so coming back just turned us all into morning people, ha. Jet lag going there was brutal though. I’m sleeping surprisingly well these days but I dot expect it to last! Just a few weeks ago I couldn’t fall asleep for hours for no obvious reason almost every night, so I’m enjoy this little break from insomnia.

3 & 4 What position do you fall asleep in/wake up in? I was always a side sleeper had no issue falling asleep on my left side before baby and now I try and as soon as I turn over to my right, I fall asleep. Unusual for me tho, is that I'm waking up on my back (or almost on my back - my pregnancy pillow, if the one side hasn't fallen off the side of the bed prevents me from going all the way).
5. Any sleep aids working for you (e.g. brand of pregnancy pillow, sleep divorce, snack before bed)? I bought a U shaped pillow from amazon it's a hassle for turning over and doesn't really support my growing belly but it is pretty comfy once I'm settled. It's very hot tho. Our room is not hot but this thing goes all around my body and I'll wake up sweaty. I'm thinking of getting that babybub one. Any one have that?
I did sleep separately from hubby and our dogs this past weekend while we were dog sitting my sister's dogs (5 dogs in the bed seemed a little excessive) and the spare room is cooler than our bedroom. I think later in the pregnancy when I'm more uncomfortable I'll end up sleeping there more often and without any dogs.
I do have to eat about an hour before bed (piece of chicken and a baby bell or something with protein. no cows milk before bed. It's spiking my sugar in the middle of the night and then I'm super hungry by the time I wake up and get nauseous).
6. Any extra gripes, raves, or things to add to the sleep convo? The other night I think I pulled a muscle right by my stomach when I was turning over. It's been sore ever since and seems to be worse at night if I don't set my bump up on a pillow.
It's only going to get BETTER right?? LOL
3/4 This week I feel like the bump grew exponentially. I rotate side to side all night long. I have the pregnancy pillow and an under bump pillow to readjust every flip…
5. Pillows galore. I also eat a handful of nuts almost 4x a night. I always had issues with sleep, once brain awake can’t turn it off. I will put on a boring podcast on sleep timer (relaxing animal facts is great ha but have to speed up his voice or it’s too slow). After hour of not sleeping, I get outta bed and will read in other room (only 3 days left of teacher summer).
6. Dude has a wfh schedule and if no early meetings, will be up till 2/3 am… since that is so close to lil lady kicking me till I meet her needs, I have asked him to sleep in spare room if not in bed by 12. I hope this won’t be any issue past pregnancy.
3. Lying on my left.
4. 50/50 I'll wake up on my left or rolled most of the way onto my back with a pillow behind me so I'm on a tilt. I get the vein compression so I can't lie flat on my back but at the moment even a small tilt is fine.
5. I've got the boppy total body pillow. My 6 year old one looks a little different from the one now but it's served me well. I has a travel bag too which has been handy as I've been in France this last week.
6. I'm really happy that the hip pain I had from mid pregnancy with baby #1 and lasted for the next 4.5 years hasn't been bothering me so far. It wasn't the usual pregnancy pelvic gurdle pain it was in my left hip joint. I eventually found that my SI joint was getting out if alignment and putting a lot of extra strain on the small muscles in my hip and my lower back. If anyone else has anything similar I found an excellent youtube video with exercises for how to release your SI joint your self. It was an absolute game changer, I'd had it released in physio several times, it kept going back but being able to do it my self 3x a day for a week fixed it and now I only do it when it's getting tight.
2. 1-2 bathroom breaks per night but soooooo much rolling. I also struggle with hip pain at night (I have a bad hip when I’m not pregnant so the extra baby on top of it has been so much fun) so I can only spend so long on each hip and it leads to probably 10 rolls per night.
4. Side or sometimes back
5. I have the Snoogle body pillow but I also add an extra pillow between my knees to relieve hip pressure/pain and often another extra one to drape my arm over
6. Restless legs are fun. I’ve been trying to get some good movement in later in the day to avoid some of it.
3. What position do you fall asleep in? Which ever side is causing me less back pain.
4. What position do you usually wake up in? Partially on my back. I have pillows to keep me from rolling fully onto it.
5. Any sleep aids working for you (e.g. brand of pregnancy pillow, sleep divorce, snack before bed)? Sometimes I take half a benadryl
3. What position do you fall asleep in? Sides (R or L)
4. What position do you usually wake up in? The same. Occasionally my back but rarely
5. Any sleep aids working for you (e.g. brand of pregnancy pillow, sleep divorce, snack before bed)? I started using more pillows, and just bought the BabyBub maternity pillow- hopefully that helps? But the powdered magnesium before bed has seemed to help the restless legs quite a bit. I use Magnesium Breakthrough.
6. Any extra gripes, raves, or things to add to the sleep convo? I guess this is training for when the baby arrives? I so miss sleeping through the night.
