Does anyone have any non traditional maternity pants recommendations? I’m not ready for the over the bump pants yet, but my casual work pants are getting way too uncomfortable 🥹
Do your pants have buttons? You can try using a hair tie looped through the button hole to give a little extra room. I was just complaining to my husband about this awkward clothes phase, too.
How are you feeling?: I am struggling. No nausea but I started feeling dizzy, I think it’s vertigo. Generally, it’s not too bad, doesn’t feel dangerous. But I did labs yesterday and came back abnormal for protein in urine. So naturally I’m freaking out that it could be preeclampsia. Shouldn’t have googled it! Waiting for the midwife to respond to the lab results.
Rants/Raves: my boobs are back 🥹 they disappeared after breastfeeding my first and what a joy that I have them again.
Questions: anyone else have abnormal urine protein this early on and were ok!
GTKY: What are your cravings/aversions? Coffee aversion, just like in my first pregnancy. Fruit craving, also like my first!
Upcoming Appointments: July 23 video visit-first with OB, I have graduated from IVF clinic!
How are you feeling?: dare I say, the tiniest bit better? Nausea seems to be worst in the afternoon/evening, so at least my days aren't too terrible for the most part.
Rants/Raves: going to the East Coast and hoping to get to see some friends and my own family, but mostly going to help my in laws move out of their house to assisted living. I'm stressed about the heat, full time childcare of my son (grandparents are both not in a state to be able to help), and also what needs to be done to clean out the house. This is also pretty much the end of my summer vacation, so it's a bit sad.
Questions: I posted a separate discussion on telling the older kid.
GTKY: What are your cravings/aversions? Craving: vanilla ice cream, milk, honestly anything that makes me less ill. Aversions: anything with intense smell. My biggest issue is I need to eat really small portions bc I get really sick if overeat, and that's pretty my my m.o. in life, so it's been a seriously challenging thing to stop myself halfway through the meal. It feels like a strong a mindfulness practice, I'm not even kidding. It's so hard. But I feel proud every time I do it. I don't have weight issues, I just love food.

How are you feeling?: Over the moon with joy! Got my NIPT results back on Monday and everything looks normal, and we’re having a girl! We have a 2yo boy so I’m really grateful he’ll be having a little sister. The normal NIPT results took a huge weight off our shoulders. We are older parents DH is 44 and I’m 39. I experienced 5 consecutive losses before now and each day feels like a huge milestone. With everything looking good (ultrasound, heartbeat, tests) I feel like we will actually be having this baby!
Rants/Raves: I wanted to get pregnant so badly, I completely forgot how crummy it feels! Nausea and bloating are no fun at all.
Questions:
GTKY: What are your cravings/aversions? I WANT sushi so badly 😭. It’s weird because I didn’t ever think about it till I got pregnant. Now I crave it constantly. I’ve been indulging in cooked rolls, but it’s not the same. Also craving watermelon like it’s going out of style.
@charleesangel9 thanks for starting this this week. I felt silly for starting last week and then never even posting. Ive had blood and protein in urine, and it's been fine, but they were always marginal, rather than way outside normal range. Hopefully the midwife can get back to you and either repeat tests, or put you at ease.
@babyz2025 romper or anything without a rigid waist is my go-to during all phases of pregnancy. To keep it business appropriate, I throw a short sleeve sweater over top.
@luckyduck42 yes on the heat. And the water. I had the unique (to me) experience or having something come back up while it was still cold.
@gfgrump congrats on joining team pink and on graduating from IVF!
@willowhisper congrats on joining team pink and on your normal nipt, I know what a relief those are.
@tknpmn pretzel chips with hummus? I figure even dessert hummus has some extra protein in it. And I should take my own advice ha.
EDD / Weeks + Days: 02.12.25 / 10+1
FTM/STM/TTM+: 5TM
Baby is the size of a (an): strawberry
Team blue/pink/green: green
Upcoming Appointments: just had my first US Tuesday, confirmed just one baby (whew!), rcs and tubal planned for 2.5.25 . Next appt in 5 weeks, then 20wk anatomy scan on 9.25. feels like I had to wait forever for the first appt, and now it seems like the anatomy scan is so soon!
How are you feeling?: tired, but can't sleep thanks to insomnia , weird dreams, round ligament pain in my hips and knees. Nauseous, but fine if I force myself to eat - most of the time. Bloated. Irritated and short on patience with my other kiddos. Constipated. Dehydrated. You know, just enjoying my last pregnancy as much as possible while hating the heat. I try not to look forward too much or mentally skip ahead to a summer where all my kids can swim safely independently lol.
Rants/Raves: Rant1: my youngest (20 months) is nursing weird on my right side and causing searing pain in my already sensitive nipples. I'm debating cutting her off, but will probably just try and give that side a break. I've enjoyed tandem feeding a toddler and newborn in the past, so I'm motivated to make it through this rough pregnancy nursing period ... again. Rant2: my OB office scheduled my US at one office and then my appt at another office 20 mins away, 30 min later. Rant3: my proprioception is off, I keep bumping into things that don't move, like my kitchen counter, AND it's extended to my car/driving ... again. Last pregnancy I drove over a curb and popped a tire, at least 2x. Well, tuesday I hit a neighbor's mailbox. I was so embarrassed. I'm just going to hide my keys and the big kids can walk to school in the fall. Rave1: my neighbor was nice about it, and my husband got it sorted quickly while I cried from embarrassment. Rave2: husband has been pretty great this go round, so far, other than suggesting I work out more. Nice that it only took 'til the 5th pregnancy to get us on the same page with how to interact kindly.
Questions: I'm looking for input on names since we goofed with the older boys sounding unintentionally similar. I have a Juniper Harriet L (June/Junie/Juniper), James Arthur L (Arthur), Oscar Whitman L (Oscar), and Rosemary Ruth L (Rosie/RosieRu/Rosemary). Clementine Joy L or Isaac Vincent L are the current planned names, but I love feedback, in case I've overlooked something, as long as you don't mind if I ignore it.
GTKY: What are your cravings/aversions? Cravings - Taco Bell mango iced tea, Qdoba habanero lime steak, rare steak, sushi, Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich. Aversions - water, everything, especially any of the previous mentions once I've had one or maybe two sips/bites. I'm also battling the persistent demons of a desire for 'thinness' while trying not to lean into my nausea and morning sickness. I'm at my lowest since 2017 (first pregnancy), and still dropping slowly, which is fine for now, but I don't want it to become a 'thing' ya know? I also want to gain only a healthy amount of pregnancy weight, but it's just such a tough line, mentally.
Upcoming Appointments: just did a blood draw for the cfDNA screening. Next OB appt won’t be until Aug 1st. No ultrasounds until 20 weeks.
How are you feeling?: Very nauseous. Ready to be done with the all day morning sickness. Energy is okay, a little tired but not too bad. Feeling big. A little bloated but without the bloat I’m already starting to show a little. I feel gross.
Rants/Raves: None rn.
Questions: None.
GTKY: What are your cravings/aversions? Aversion to all food, room temp water, and most other smells. Craving nothing.
Upcoming Appointments: Need to do the lab draw for NIPT, then next OB appointment is August 9th. I was having some cramping and brown discharge that we were concerned about, so they did a bonus ultrasound two days ago to check on Sprout. Looking good, strong heart rate of 162 and Sprout waved at us.
How are you feeling?: So nauseous and exhausted. The bloating has lessened and yet my belly is still protruding more - I'm struggling so hard to fit into my clothes. Round ligament pain has been bad the last four days. And I'm cranky as hell lol
Rants/Raves: A positive rave here, I've been lucky with my support system and have incredible friends and family members who have been gracious and excited and supportive. It's been helpful to have multiple sources tell me how excited they are for me to be a mom, especially now that I'm really getting anxious about parenthood. It's started to sink in how real this change will be, and my support system has all the faith in me. So grateful.
Questions: If you want to do a home birth, when do you start meeting midwives? It seems like all my educational info is focused on hospital birth and puts the labor suite/birth plan stuff near the end. I'm anxious about not jumping the gun, but also not missing my ideal window for getting a midwife and home birth if that's in the cards...
GTKY: What are your cravings/aversions? I have been off cravings for a couple weeks due to the nausea and vomiting. But I was consistently craving eggs and spicy food. Current aversions are my prenatal vitamin Struggling to keep it down.
@armadillho if you are wanting to do home birth and use a midwife you should be seeing a midwife for all your ob care and can start that now. At my first OB appointment my OB let me know about all my options and that if I wanted a midwife she could refer me to ones in my insurance network. I am opting to go with a hospital birth and stick with my OB but I would let your current OB know you are wanting to do home birth and they should be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck! Btw we are due date twins 👯♀️
@babyshmoop2_25 Thank you! I'm currently planning to stick with the CenteringPregnancy group I'm in at Kaiser, but did start reaching out to a few midwives to get some cost analysis started. And hey, due date twin! 💗
Upcoming Appointments: Had my first u/s last week. Everything looks good. I heard the heart beat at 160. Today, I had bloodwork drawn and should get those results by the end of the week- including finding out the sex.
How are you feeling?: Still very nauseous in the late afternoon/evening. Also, low energy.
Rants/Raves: I really want to feel good again. And have enough energy to exercise (at least go for a good walk!)
Questions: are most of you opting for genetic testing? I never did with my other babies but I'm wondering.
GTKY: What are your cravings/aversions? I eat plums every day. But, I have way more aversions (different every day), than cravings currently.
I had a home birth with a midwife but you can have your midwife at the hospital too! I find that midwives tend to be very good at preparing you throughout the entire pregnancy, not just addressing any medical issues, though they will do that. My midwife gave me book recommendations, diet recommendations, exercise recommendations, sent me videos and resources on everything. She also met with me and my husband so that he would know what to do during labor and delivery! So yes, find your midwife and start seeing her asap!

I am doing NIPT. It's also a tested embryo. For me, i want to have as much information as we can get safely. I'm not planning on doing an amnio if I don't need to.
