C section… emergency or not?

Hi! I had a healthy baby back in February. I was going to get induced at 39 weeks, but when I got to the hospital and they put the baby monitor, about 5 nurses came in the room with the doctor. The doctor said that the heart beat of the baby was dropping to 90 with some contractions. I was surprised I was having contractions, because I barely felt them. It felt more like a bit of pressure, but not consistent. This is my third baby, so I know what Braxton vs real contractions feel like. The doctor said that if they induced me that the baby could probably not take the effects of Pitocin and it could make an emergency situation, so the best thing was to do a c section. Was this an emergency c section? I’m not sure, because she made it sound like I could have an option to be induced the next morning, but the dropping of the heart was happening so often that now I think it was more of an emergency situation. How could I tell whether or not this was an emergency?
