EDD / Weeks + Days: 18w4d, EDD: Thanksgiving Day 11/28
FTM/STM/TTM+: Fourth Time Momma
Baby is the size of a (an): Artichoke, which coincidentally I’ve been eating a lot of lately!
Team blue/pink/green: Blue
Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy Scan is tomorrow and I’m super excited! I have a vacation coming up that so had to schedule my appt for relatively “early” in my pregnancy (in the past I’ve done these between 20-21 weeks), so a little nervous they won’t get all the views they need, but staying optimistic.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. Just went camping and it was exhausting. The trip was planned before I was pregnant though. Lot’s of uterus heaviness, twinges, pain, the usual stuff I guess. Also voraciously hungry! And dealing with heartburn pretty much daily now.
Rants/Raves: Rant is that heartburn sucks. I never really had it with my first 3 pregnancies but I’ve quickly learned to keep Tums everywhere. Rave is I’ve been feeling baby move a ton these days and it’s adorable and reassuring. I already love him so much!
Questions: None
GTKY: What’s a book you would recommend and why? The book of Psalms in the Bible. Something about it encompassing all the range of emotions of being a human, the smallness and blessing that is life itself, and the confidence it inspires to believe in something bigger.
How are you feeling?: tired, tired, tired. And it’s going to be 100 degrees for the next couple days so probably tired and hot 🥵
Rants/Raves: got a couple vacations coming up, including a week at the beach that sounds pretty great right now
Questions: how do you deal with the heat while pregnant? We’ve got AC, but I don’t really want to spend all day every day inside and got woozy during a morning walk.
GTKY: What’s a book you would recommend and why? For the current climate, I really enjoyed I Never Thought of It That Way - Monica Guzman. Great reminders about perspective taking, defusing conflict, and seeing folks as people with complex characters. For fun, Remarkably Bright Creatures was a nice lil read.
Team blue/pink/green: Green for now Upcoming Appointments: Just did my second early glucose test this morning. It seems I pass for now. I'm surprised, but glad. Next appointment at 20w.
How are you feeling?: Tired, still have nausea, feeling baby more and more (can't wait for my partner to be able to feel the baby too).
Rants/Raves: Just did in my two previous prompts. 😂 Questions: Not at the moment.
Upcoming Appointments: just a quick check in and listening to the heartbeat in a week but waiting for my anatomy scan Aug 9!
How are you feeling?: tired, very tired. I thought I'd get a lift in the second trimester, but still feeling very tired. Also having a bit of insomnia a few nights each week which has been tough.
Rants/Raves: we've finally told most of our close friends and family, but really missing when it was just our family thing. Tired of the questions and comments about everything.
Questions: anyone have the Citi mini jogger stroller and figure out how to make it work for a baby and toddler?
GTKY: What’s a book you would recommend and why? Recently read Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers on a vacation recently and it was a hoot! Easy, very fun read. Also been reading Good Inside, which has given me lots of parenting insights and strategies (and ones for understanding my husband's reactions or parenting style).
@dogmama629, I don’t have a Citi Mini, but have a friend with a similar set up that used a glider board for her toddler when we met up at the zoo. Obviously will depend on age and length of the outing, but might be an option if you didn’t want to get a double stroller.
Also, Good Inside was so nice! I think I like it better than her socials or podcast in terms of nuance.
Upcoming Appointments: My next prenatal visit won't be until August, I also need to schedule my anatomy scan and fetal echo for that month too
How are you feeling?: Nearly constant Braxton hicks and heart palpitations, so I'm really trying to focus on hydration. I'd really like the reassurance of feeling baby move, but the last three I had anterior placenta so it took a bit longer and I'm not going to hold my breath that it will be different this time.
Rants/Raves: We are doing a lot of traveling, and it's great seeing lots of family and friends and places we love. This has also been quite an easy pregnancy so far, but I am now learning that I need to dial back... a lot.
Questions:
GTKY: What’s a book you would recommend and why? Um, I like books, and this is too broad 😂
