Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o July 1

**This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o July 1

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): Benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Contract phase for embryo adoption

How are things going?: Good! The agency received our signed contract in the mail, so just waiting for the placing family’s to arrive and then we can have the embryos shipped! I’m at the beginning of my cycle right now, so I’m crossing my fingers the embryos arrive by the start of my next cycle so we can do the transfer then.

Any questions?: Those that have done an FET before, how often do you need to go in for monitoring at the beginning of the cycle?

GTKY: Any plans for Independence Day?
We probably won’t do fireworks because there aren’t any happening near us (except the ones people in the neighborhood set off illegally). There are some small things going on at parks nearby so we might check one of those out.

First, congrats on being so close! On monitoring for FET, it was surprisingly little (to me at least, especially compared to egg retrievals). For me, all three times, it was only one monitoring appointment around day 10 or 11 of estrace to make sure you are suppressed (no big follicles, cysts, etc), and that your lining is thick enough.  If you're good to go, transfer is scheduled for 5-6 days later (and you start progesterone in that time). If your lining isn't thick enough, they usually have you keep up the estrace (or increase the dose) and come back 2 days later for another check. Then, same thing, as soon as you're ready, they start the progesterone and schedule the transfer. And the transfer itself is also super short! I was like, "is that it?"
