Bad Taste

Well, nausea is by far my least favorite pregnancy symptom, but does anyone else always have a bad taste in their mouth? Google describes it as a metallic taste. It's awful. Nothing tastes normal and it never goes away throughout the day🥴

Re: Bad Taste

  • Yes! I have had it will all of my pregnancies, and it is gross. It makes it hard or me to drink water, too.

  • 🙋‍♀️ strictly on flavored water right now just to get some water down.
  • Yes, water tastes awful. I'm drinking mine with electrolytes, but I'm still struggling.
  • I haven't found much that helps. I have noticed that the more dehydrated I get, the more nauseous I feel, and the worse everything tastes- and it fuels that blah cycle. I try to drink a LOT of water in the morning to get ahead of it.
  • i have also been having issues with hating the taste of my saliva. I wouldn’t say it’s metallic. It’s just gross. I’ll brush my teeth 4 times a day thinking maybe it’s just my breath but nope, doesn’t help. The taste is almost like super sweet, and sometimes it’s just tastes like I have dirty water in my mouth. Some days I don’t have it but most days I do.

I totally get it. The metallic taste is a real struggle. I asked my doctor about it before and he said that it's called dysgeusia, correct me if I'm wrong with that. And he said it's pretty common in pregnancy but everything tastes off! What I did was chewing a gum and sometimes, sucking on mints. It helped but just a bit.
  • sucking on mints has been helpful for me!
