Team blue/pink/green: Blue + Green for now (twins)
Upcoming Appointments: July 1 US/meeting with high risk dr.
How are you feeling?: Feeling good overall, but beginning to have some considerable food aversions which is more annoying than anything else. The babies are not fans of red meat or eggs I guess...
Rants/Raves: The first trimester is looooooong 🙃
Questions: NATM
GTKY: What's your favorite family tradition and/or favorite childhood memory?
Family Tradition: My husband and I live in Southern California, and for years now, once a week we picnic dinner down at the beach and watch the sunset. It's our absolute favorite and can't wait to include the babies in this special tradition.
Childhood Memory: Growing up, our family did bunch of road trips all over the US to National Parks or visit family/friends, etc. Such fun memories of being together and seeing cool places and hanging out in the car. Excited to do that with our family in the future as well.
@kendyb77 I feel you on the first trimester feeling long. With my first, I couldn't eat peanut butter. I was convinced she was going to be allergic. I'm sure that's not how that works but in my mind that's what I thought. She loves peanut butter and has not had any adverse reactions. I love both your tradition and childhood memories. They sound like so much fun. I always loved road trips. We didn't do as many and they were mostly from NJ to FL to see family but I have some really good memories from those times.

Team blue/pink/green: Green for now
Upcoming Appointments: June 28 - For blood tests. See rants/raves
How are you feeling?: My husband and I thought we got food poisoning this weekend but his mother just started have the same symptoms last night and we saw her on Sunday. So I'm guessing a stomach bug. It hit me first and I thought it was just really bad morning sickness but I knew when my husband started it wasn't that. I feel so bad for him. This was only his 2nd Father's day and the first one was just a couple months after his Father died so he thinks it's just how his Father's days are going to be.
Rants/Raves: I thought I was going to get my blood tests done at my last appointment and get the kit for the NIPT because that was what my doctor said but when I got there all we did was another US. Which I'm not mad about because I got to see some movement which was awesome but I thought I was going to find out the sex soon but now have to wait 2 more weeks.
Questions: NATM
GTKY: What's your favorite family tradition and/or favorite childhood memory? I asked this question because most of my family traditions are holiday based (pumpkin carving, Christmas cookies, etc.) and I wanted to try and incorporate some new things for both my kids. I saw a video of a family doing waffle boat nights where they make these waffles and have an assortment of toppings and the whole family was having such a good time. I had a really good childhood, don't get me wrong, but I just thought it would be fun to start doing stuff like that for my kids and start our own family traditions.
My favorite childhood memory is spending time at my grandfather's house. He lived in his childhood home with a few of his siblings and the door was always open. People would be coming and going all day and night and they would be playing music and telling stories. My great aunt always had food out. It was just fascinating as a kid and it created an extended "family" of such eclectic people.
First off, thank you @kamays54 for keeping updates alive!

How are you feeling?: still good! Biggest change this week has been swelling and painful breasts. My boobs have never been this big in my life 😂
Rants/Raves: I’m still struggling with knowing how and when to tell people. We’ve told about half of our network. I have 3 close friends going though some infertility related challenges and I want to be really thoughtful about sharing with them.
Questions: how much water are you guys drinking a day? I’ve seen some absurd recommendations and need some grounding lol. Forgot to ask doc about this.
GTKY: What's your favorite family tradition and/or favorite childhood memory
This is a tough one for me. I feel like a lot of my favorite memories are in adulthood with some tough stuff growing up. There was about a 5-year stretch that I had Thanksgiving with just my dad and sister and we made everything from scratch. It was really intimate and special. Now my husband and I like to host hoping to make lots of new family traditions with our little nugget.
Baby is the size of a (an): cant remember. Is this called mom brain? My poor third child😂
Team blue/pink/green: will find out at anatomy scan
Upcoming Appointments: june 25 for midwife
How are you feeling?: constipated. And it’s making me feel more nauseous. Got some laxatives today so hope its going to help soon. My mental health has been a but in the dumps. It helps to get outside but i have no motivation to do my regular hobbies (sewing/knitting) that normally kept me sane as a stay at home more of a 3 and 1 yr old. So now I’m just super bored and lonely. Been really fighting my phone because its way to easy to get sucked in and end up scrolling all day which its good for me or my kids. I do NOT want to be a mom who has my nose in my phone all day.
Rants/Raves: when im not feeling great i start missing my mom and home a lot more. Im also starting to crave food from restaurants only in the US. Im married to a Norwegian and live here so quite far from WA.
Questions: natm
GTKY: What's your favorite family tradition and/or favorite childhood memory? taking a family beach/camping trip every summer. So fun to sit around the campfire singing in the evenings and generally hanging out on the beach with cousins that i didnt always see too often throughout the year.
More recently my more immediate family has started having a sleepover at mom and dad’s house. I have a huge family and it’s so much fun! Chaotic but fun. People set up tents or bring their campers. I always chose to sleep in my bed when i lived at home😂 im looking forward to when we move back and can be a part of the chaos again.
Upcoming Appointments: First OB appointment. We came from a fertility clinic so my OB wouldn’t see us until close to 12 weeks.
How are you feeling?: Still so nauseous.
Rants/raves: I certainly don’t have a bump yet but I do have a lot of bloat. I feel like my pants are all getting tight but it seems way too early to think about maternity clothes. What the heck am I supposed to wear?
Questions: NATM
GTKY: What's your favorite family tradition and/or favorite childhood memory? I feel like all of our traditions were holiday based. I’d love to make some new ones.
@fk18 honestly, probably nowhere near enough water. I’ve seen some ridiculous amounts suggested too. I’ve started adding fruit to my water this week and I think that has helped some in making me drink more.
@fk18 I am horrible about drinking water. And it's not that I drink anything else like soda or coffee. I just never really feel thirsty so I forget to drink anything. With my last pregnancy, I tried to make a conscious effort to drink more but it was so difficult.
@babywiik those sleepovers sound fun! Do you have a date set when you are going to move back?
@bass04 I just got 2 pairs of maternity leggings last week. I waited a while with my first but with this one I feel like I'm showing way earlier. Also, I felt like where my pants were hitting me on my stomach made me more nauseous so over the belly pants were needed lol.
How are you feeling?: Still having periods of nausea/vomiting, but it is getting slightly better. Also very tired a lot.
Rants/Raves: One of my food aversions is coffee. I'm sad and miss coffee so much. I really hope that this aversion goes away.
Questions: NATM
GTKY: What's your favorite family tradition and/or favorite childhood memory? My favorite family tradition is a Christmas thing. We have a "cheese feast" and everyone brings different cheese and crackers and meat. They've been doing is for something like 50 years, and maybe more, so way before charcuterie was cool. Apparently it started when my great-grandpa would let hunters use his land, and each year the people who hunted would give them cheese as a thank you/Christmas gift.
@fk18 I don't drink as much as I probably should, but I definitely have a goal for 64 oz. a day, which is the standard 8 cups. I was talking to a friend and she told me she had a few complications later in her second pregnancy that was caused by not drinking enough water, and the nurse told her she had to drink two of those huge hospital jugs a day, and I think that would be 64 oz. as well.

Married: July 22, 2008 Fur babies: Yeti (cat)

@fk18 and @MandyBeeSLP I also bought a glass 64oz jug and I fill it up at the beginning of the day. As I drink things (even not water like lemonade) I pour out the amount I consumed so every drop counts. I try to sip on it all day and because it’s glass and clear - I can see how far I have to go. I’m shocked I’ve been able to get 64oz down because normally I am just not thirsty. I want to say that I feel so much better or it’s helped with my bloat or other symptoms but honestly it hasn’t. I just dutifully do it everyday because I know it’s the recommendation.
I love all the childhood memories, keep them coming!
Upcoming Appointments: July 2nd for a scan with MFM. I believe it’s an anatomy’s scan.
How are you feeling?: Intermittently better. Although the nausea can come out of nowhere and hit me like a ton of bricks still. I’m exhausted and by 3pm, it’s nap time! Not that I get to take a lot of naps but I’d like to!
Rants/Raves: I agree the first trimester is looooonnnng! I also agree about the maternity clothing thing. I gave up and just bought some comfy leggings, jumpsuits and even a pair on insanely cute maternity jeans from Paige. Just decided to embrace even though it’s still early, I’m bloated and uncomfortable and sick of trying to shove myself in my existing clothes! We all need some comfier stuff eventually, might as well do it now!
Questions: none
GTKY: What's your favorite family tradition and/or favorite childhood memory?
Gosh, great question. Pregnancy brain is not helping. I guess I would say that we love St Patrick’s Day in a very passionate and deep level despite the fact that we aren’t particularly Irish. Every year we make several homemade cornbeef briskets, eats tons of cabbage and died everything green! I’ve loved it since I was a kid and excited for my kids to enjoy it too! I’m sure I can come up with something better but that is all I have for right now!
@jojosesame that is so funny. My husband said this past St Patrick's Day that he doesn't understand why that is the only time we eat cornbeef and cabbage because we both like it so much. He just bought some last Thursday and also made mashed potatoes with it. Sooo good. We are also not Irish but definitely enjoy the food and holiday!
How are you feeling?: nausea comes and goes and isn’t horribly awful. I’m struggling with nighttime insomnia but it’s mostly because it’s super hot and humid here lately. Food aversions are definitely still here but I’ve been doing protein shakes to help get in nutrients
Rants/Raves: I’m finally finding the energy to get my workouts in and it’s helping with my mood and energy. I also took advantage of my local thrift store’s weekend and daily clearance deals to snag a bunch of tunic length shirts and cute dresses for maternity wear for under $2.50 a piece. I figure once my normal high waisted leggings stop fitting I’ll just invest in a few maternity pairs from Old Navy or Amazon.
Questions: is there anyone else in our group who is a bariatric patient? I’m 2.5 years post op and maintained my goal weight up until this last winter spring due to a super physically and mentally stressful work environment. I gained about 30 lbs and then got surprised by my BFP. My OB is consulting with the bariatric team from the hospital group to see what extra provisions we might need to take to ensure a healthy pregnancy.
GTKY: What's your favorite family tradition and/or favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite traditions that we do as a family is Birthday Breakfasts. It’s just a silly tradition we started when my husband and I got married, but on birthdays we make whatever the person wants for breakfast. It’s something mundane like Oreo pancakes or French toast, but sometimes it’s a bacon cheeseburger (my husband), Costco pizza (my son), and my personal favorite birthday breakfast request is cold leftover lasagna.
Baby is the size of a (an): ripe apricot? apparently

Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow (friday)
How are you feeling?: Mostly okay. Some days I feel normal and sometimes I just want to lie in bed. Food aversion stuff has been rough, luckily it seems no matter what either an egg sandwich or peanut butter toast works. My boobs also are still sore all the time
Questions: I haven't told my other kids yet and am trying to come up with the best way. Pretty sure I want to tell them all at once but also would like to capture it some how I think. I know they'll be excited but I have no idea how they will react initially to the news.
GTKY: What's your favorite family tradition and/or favorite childhood memory? really St Patricks day. My moms side of the family always had a big get together with a traditional meal and it was just a nice gathering, that I miss.
