Cold sores on lip

I’ve gotten cold sores basically my whole life and now that I’m pregnant I’m really scared they’re going to show up frequently because of my hormones. I already have one and I’m only four weeks. Has anyone dealt with this?? Please help :(

Re: Cold sores on lip

  • From what I’ve read, it’s pretty common for cold sore frequency to pick up when you’re pregnant. I didn’t start getting them until my first pregnancy. I use Lysene directly on the spot and it really reduces the discomfort and healing time is much faster. I also use Herpicin L chapstick daily to prevent, as well as try my best to keep my lips moisturized (especially in the dry months). I know they suck but you’re not alone - 8 weeks today and just dealing with my first of this pregnancy. Good luck mama.

I take Valtrex for my cold sores, prescribed by my doctor. I’ve taken them during pregnancies as well. Something you could ask your doctor about, they have worked wonders for me over the years. I have also gotten them my whole life, for me it’s genetic.
