Measuring behind at 7 week US-very anxious

I tested positive on my first pregnancy test very very early, with hcg at 16. I think I was only 6-7dpo. That was on April 4th. I had my first scan on April 30th (3w5d after first pregnancy test), and it measured 5weeks5days, no found heartbeat just yet. I have a tilted uterus, so that may have caused it to be more difficult to find but I thought I was closer to 7 weeks. I don’t know what cd I ovulate but I know I tested positive 6-7 days after. Could I possibly only be 5.5? I am a still so nauseous I vomit, hasn’t let up at all. Looking for someone who can help calculate my dates or has positive outcomes.

  • Usually you can't test positive until after implantation, and implantation doesn't usually occur until 6-12 DPO, usually not until closer to 9 or 10 DPO. We cannot calculate your dates for you.  If you were not BBT then it is too late to determine when you O'd at this point. If you weren't tracking doubling of HCG, which is the most important thing about HCG, and your scan shows you are only 5.5 weeks, then that is what they will use for dating. I'd guess you're going back in a week to check?  At that point, as long as your baby has grown, you should be fine at this point.

I guess my question is since I already had a positive HCG test on April 4, wouldn't I have to be more than 5.5 weeks, 3 weeks and 5 days later?
  • Well, unfortunately, if that's the case you could either be measuring small... or it could be very bad news.  Are you going back in another week or so for an updated scan to see if there is growth?

  • I am going back tomorrow. Pretty sure it's bad news, and I have pretty much accepted at this point, but I suppose there is some small hope.

    Thanks!
  • Good luck.  I hope the news isn't bad, but at least you should know a lot more after this appointment!
