Are you interested in moving to a private group (bump, facebook, or other)?

I wanted to get people's thoughts on whether there was interest in moving to either a private Bump group, a Facebook group, or some other platform. As I was reading through this week's check-in I was reminded that we are getting to a point where some more personal things might be shared. I'm also fine just staying on here, but I know some people may not feel comfortable sharing some information on a group that is available to the public (I know I definitely hold back about some things)! Using a poll to gauge people's interest. (For reference, the public group would still be active, but I assume conversations among those who post regularly would move to the private platform)

Yes, I feel like I would be much more active on FB. I'm one of the admins for my October 2019 BMB on FB, and we are so close. I've actually met quite a few of those women IRL!

What we did was start a private group here on TB, then take a photo of ourselves holding a piece of paper with our usernames. Although, now there's AI so maybe it's harder to trust things? Andplusalso that was five years ago, so I'm not sure if there's a better protocol now.

For my August 2022 group, we had a private bump group first (for a while) so that helped smooth the transition, but the name of the facebook group was only posted in there and people had to answer a question with their bump user name before admins admitted them.

I don’t have Facebook. I used to, but closed my account in 2015. I personally find it to be divisive and addictive.

@rachel-the-wolf-flower same! I closed mine about 5 years ago as well but did create an account last pregnancy that I only used for bump access ( kind of a pain) and now use occasionally for markerplace. I've been strong and have avoided accepting any friends.

@rachel-the-wolf-flower Same. I’ve been off all social media for years. It’s not a great place for my mental health, but I do miss out on family updates as my very large extended family all use Facebook for family news. I’m also that parent that won’t let my kids on it.

Definitely want to do something that will be inclusive for as many people as possible! Maybe we can start with a private bump group and then if there’s a desire to some to still have a Facebook group we can do that later?

Okay I created a group - June 2024 Babies. If anyone has a cuter name very open to changing it. I started inviting people (mostly by going through the last few check-ins), but probably missed people who are active (and I'm technically not sure I did it correctly), so please request to join! Also let me know if you want to be an admin!

It's super confusing to get to groups - there is a link above (hover/click on the name). But in general, after you click on community on the bump, you have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to view groups.

Thanks for explaining, I had no idea where to find the group. They should make them easier to find!
