How are you feeling?: pretty good. Getting tired most days around 3ish, and hello round ligament pains, but other than that, good.
Rants/Raves: none really at the moment. Time between appointments still seems to be crawling, though.
Questions: anyone else finding one food and obsessing over it? I have literally eaten 2-3 salads a day covered in Japanese ginger dressing for the last week.
GTKY: What was your first concert? LeAnn Rimes and Bryan White when I was in 6th grade
EDD / Weeks + Days: Oct 13th / 13wk+2 (end of 1st trimester!)
FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM
Baby is the size of a (an): lemon
Team blue/pink/green: pink
Upcoming Appointments: 4/18
How are you feeling?: This week has been pretty great. Last week I could tell I was very over-emotional, this week I feel almost completely normal, like I'm not even pregnant. I do think I'm starting to feel some round ligament pain when I sneeze/cough, which was definitely a little scary at first. And I swear I felt a kick/some movement the other night when I was going to bed! Seems a little too early to tell though. And I finally feel like I actually have a little bump now, and don't just look fat/bloated lol. I've noticed my bump has actually moved up a little higher recently too.
Rants/Raves: I'm a knitter so I'm excited to work on some baby knits. I already made a sweater when I first found out I was pregnant, but since finding out it was a girl last week I also knit up a lacy romper which is super cute! Baby knits are so fast to make.
I also finally told my parents and my in-laws that we were expecting and everyone was very surprised! Especially since we already knew the gender. I think they all assumed we didn't want kids and were never going to have any.
I also had quite the burst of energy last week, so I finally bought some maternity clothes, just a few to start with. And I put together a registry already at target and amazon. I figured that gives me a lot of time to make changes if I need to but for now I'm pretty happy with our registry list so far.
Questions: Does any have any suggestions for washable/cloth diapers? Target only seems to carry 2 main brands (Kanga Care and Thirsties) and I'm not sure how good either of those brands are. I'm looking for fitted diapers and preferably ones that are All-in-Two, so they come with like a diaper cover and inner liner that you replace separately.
My husband doesn't really like the idea of having to wash diapers, but I'm an eco-girly and it's important to me to at least give washable diapers a shot, so he said he would be willing to try to make it work. I'm also willing to use disposable diapers if washable diapers don't work out for us, but I really want to give it our best shot first. So hopefully there's a brand out there that works well and is easy to use, to make this as painless as possible lol. Any recommendations?
GTKY: What was your first concert? I can barely remember lol, Avril Lavigne I think? Might've been for her 2nd album.
Baby is the size of a (an): a lime / width of a peanut butter cup
Team blue/pink/green: Finding out tonight!! Can’t wait!
Upcoming Appointments: April 19th for a check up with my OB
How are you feeling?: Really good this week! My nausea has totally subsided and I’m enjoying eating food again. I have had luck finding the heartbeat on my Doppler this week which is always amazing to hear. And we got good results from our NIPT testing and are finding out the gender tonight. I picked up the results in an envelope and ran to target to pick out an outfit for a newborn girl and boy and then dropped it off at my best friend’s house. She is wrapping the outfit that matches our result and my husband and I are having a little date night and opening the box up at dinner. It’s getting me through this dreary Tuesday work day!
Rants/Raves: Rant: Tired of this awkward no bump but too bloated for jeans phase. I am ready for my bump to pop. Rave: Feeling so grateful to have a close mom friend in town (the one who is wrapping out gender reveal). We met when I was pregnant last time and our babies were born 2 weeks apart and she and I talk almost every day. We had a fun pool day at her house this weekend and our toddlers are starting swim lessons together next month!
Questions: None at the moment
GTKY: What was your first concert? I think it was Avril Lavigne but might have been Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus’ “Best of Both Worlds” tour lol
@hollyvenelle - yes to food obsessions! And then I overdo it and don’t even want to look at it anymore. Current obsession is virgin bloody mary’s haha I want them all day long
How are you feeling?: Getting the energy back so that’s been nice, actually can contribute to society again 😅
Rants/Raves: At my appt last week the doctor was a bit rushed and I didn’t get a great photo of baby so that was disappointing/on the plus side, most of my people know so now I get to look forward to sharing the gender with them
Questions: How do you overcome decision fatigue?? I feel like there are so many different products out there, as a FTM it’s a bit overwhelming
GTKY: What was your first concert? They were called Plus One, one of those almost boy bands of the late 90s
Upcoming Appointments: 4/22… feels like forever in between appointments
How are you feeling?: sleeping better, still congested, feeling very big and round, round ligament pain, deep butt bone/hip pains are killing me, always hungry and sooooo thirsty.
Rants: I’ve been procrastinating buying new clothes because I know I’m only going to get bigger and I hate clothes shopping but I seriously only have like 5 pieces of clothes that fit now. I’m also still trying to conceal my bump but it is getting increasingly harder. Raves: finally ordered a pregnancy pillow and used it for the first time last night and WOW. I was so comfy and didn’t wake up in the night from tossing and turning + pains.
Questions: Has anyone experienced pain in their butt bone? This sounds silly but the last 2 weeks my right butt bone hurts but it’s a deep bone pain. It’s similar to the feeling you get after riding a bike for way tooooo long. But when I start getting the pain it’s so uncomfortable to sit and if I’m standing my leg kinda gives out a bit. I have been going on long walks and standing on my feet a lot recently. I tried searching online and I saw something about PGP… if it is that, the exercises I’ve been doing is clearly not helping
GTKY: What was your first concert? small artist called Cuco, it was $7 and my friend wanted to go.
Upcoming Appointments: just had the first ultrasound screening yesterday, to be reviewed with my gp
How are you feeling?: pretty good overall, fatigue is ongoing, but morning sickness has basically disappeared which is amazing.
Rants/Raves: everything went great for first trimester screening, I was hoping for boring and normal and I got it! Low risk for everything, despite being 35. So exciting ☺️
Questions: none this week!
GTKY: What was your first concert? First memorable concert was Justin Timberlake
Baby is the size of a (an): apple and as tall as an Eggo waffle 🙃
Team blue/pink/green: pink (but I don’t like the color pink…so peach?)
Upcoming Appointments: 4/17
How are you feeling?: Better. Which is lovely. Still some tiredness and nausea, but it’s subsided.
Rants/Raves: Food. I keep blaming the baby - but things I used to love like pasta just aren’t appealing anymore. Still loving potatoes and mangoes though. And I’ve started in on the smoothies.
Also, like AA2024, bought my first maternity pants today and a dress and skirt. Plan to do leggings and my love’s bigger shirts as much as I can.
Questions: Like Lizzy - I also would love to hear experiences, tips, and opinions on reusable diapers. I plan to give it a go and maybe have disposable for when we’re out/away from home for the ease.
GTKY: What was your first concert? Flogging Molly. I think it was ninth grade and I think I was a little too young…haha
Baby is the size of a (an): peach, mug (they must mean a small one-my mugs are mostly huge! Haha)
Team blue/pink/green: girl
Upcoming Appointments: April 22 for 16 weeks
How are you feeling?: Feeling pretty good! Energy is inconsistently returning, but I’ll take it! Eating a lot, but keeping it healthier, so that helps a little with the bloating.
Rants/Raves: I finally told my boss and some colleagues, which is a huge load off! No more hiding it and making excuses for things, which feels great. And everyone is very excited 💗, even though the timing is a little complicated.
Questions: none
GTKY: What was your first concert? I honestly can’t remember. 😬 We went to a lot of outdoor concerts as a family. ❤️ But I do remember going to an *NSYNC concert early on too, haha.
Re: Weekly Check-In (4/8 - 4/14) 👑
