  • EDD / Weeks + Days: June 15, 30w + 2d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Baby is the size of a (an): Cabbage

    Team blue/pink/green: 💙

    Upcoming Appointments: Wednesday

How are you feeling?: I got my first hemorrhoid last week and that has not been a fun experience. Omg they really hurt! I have been using all the creams, pads and bath soaking and am finally starting to feel better. Not looking forward to after birth care though if that was just 1 hemorrhoid

Rants/Raves: This is kinda both. My hair has always been straight, maybe slightly wavy on a humid day. I love curly hair but my hair can’t hold a curl at all. The last month or two, my hair has become super frizzy and started seeing some little curls after washing. So I decided to use a curly hair product after showering and I apparently have full on curly hair now. It’s actually insane. So I am now trying to figure out how the style my new hair! Has this happened to anyone else during pregnancy? Will it go away after pregnancy?

    Questions: see rant/ rave above!

GTKY: What is your favorite meal? My favorite meal changes by the day and week (even when I am not pregnant). But I always love a good seafood meal (pasta, soup, you name it) because I don’t get it often since my husband is not a fan.

Baby is the size of a (an): Men's Roller Hockey Skate

    Team blue/pink/green: Pink

Upcoming Appointments: Growth scan this Thursday (4/11) and Lactation Appt to try to prep for breastfeeding this Friday (4/12)

How are you feeling?: Physically okay, but mentally my anxiety is easily triggered - I'm stressing over baby's movement (nothing is wrong with it, I've just been busy and so don't notice her moving and then I get anxious, but when I do a kick count they seem great - I think I'm more anxious about doing it then the result); I had a blood vessel pop in my eye this weekend and my MIL made a comment about how it can be related to high blood pressure and I got super anxious (I had already looked into it and it's not really, but then I couldn't get it out of my head), etc.

    Rants/Raves:

Rant: We went on a trip to Denver this weekend to meet up with my in laws. The trip was a lot of fun, but I'm just so exhausted. Traveling with a toddler is definitely not a vacation (though like I said is still fun).

Rave: I plan to move my daughter to her new room on Friday! I'm excited that it's (almost) done and that we are making the transition.

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What is your favorite meal? I can't think of one specific thing, but generally I love pasta - though a really good steak might win out.

Baby is the size of a (an): snorkel set

    Team blue/pink/green: 💙

    Upcoming Appointments: April 22nd

How are you feeling?: so tired and always swelling. Heartburn after even just a glass of water.

Rants/Raves: my eldest had her first Track meet today! She ran the 800 m and came in 5th.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite meal? Not pregnant probably corn beef and cabbage with potatoes. This pregnancy is tilapia with cheese and sour cream onion chips crushed on top.
  • @curlyandpreggo I hear you on the anxiety with the kick counts. I also get busy and get freaked out because I haven’t felt him in a while but as soon as I actually do a kick count it is fine. It’s just so easy to get scared that I will miss something. I hate the pressure that the whole process puts on the Mom to identify when things are wrong. It’s just feels like too much

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite meal?

Anything with Cheese 🧀 But in terms of cuisine I love Italian, Greek and Mexican.

Upcoming Appointments: OBGYN this week, MFM next week

How are you feeling?: I am a raging ball of anxiety.

Rants/Raves: Update in the spoiler, TW for scary pregnancy stuff

I had my first previa bleed on Saturday and was admitted for a 24 hour stay in L&D. Luckily the bleeding stopped on it’s own during my stay. It was still pretty scary though and the doctors and nurses warned me that we wouldn’t make it to 36 weeks for my scheduled c section. I got 2 steroid shots for baby girl’s lungs in case she has to come in the next 2 weeks. They’ll decide after that if we should do another round of shots or wait for the next bleed. If it happens again they will keep me for a few days, and if it happens a third time I have to stay in the hospital until I deliver. I’ve been put on modified bed rest at home and ordered to stay within 30 minutes of the hospital. I’m terrified that my body won’t hold up well enough and she’ll have to come too early, or that next time I’ll bleed out before we can get to the hospital and we’ll lose her. Focusing all my energy on staying pregnant and keeping her growing safely on the inside as long as possible. They told me that every day that I can keep her inside is worth 3 in the NICU so holding on to that right now. Every day counts!
    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What is your favorite meal? I love a good steak with a nice salad and a glass of red wine. Perfection.
  • @maggiemadeit wow you are a rockstar. I would be absolutely losing my mind if I were you! Definitely thinking about you and sending good wishes your way that you can keep that baby girl in as long as possible
  • @maggiemadeit that is terrifying and I am glad you and the baby are doing well enough to go home. It seems like you are doing all the right things but that doesn’t make it any less scary! I’m thinking about you and hoping you are able to keep the baby in as long as possible.
  • @maggiemadeit That sounds so scary! I'm glad you are both doing well now and I will keep y'all in my thoughts. I know you are generally pretty active (and have two other kiddos), so I hope bedrest isn't too tough!
  • @saltedcaramel518 I won't see where baby actually is until my growth scan tomorrow, but definitely feeling all my movement on my right side - I feel like my last one did the same thing!
  • jenEPjenEP member
@maggiemadeit oh my goodness, that sounds so scary. I’m glad they were able to give you the steroid shots and that the bleeding stopped! My husband was born at 34 weeks weighing 4lbs 1oz. He’s brilliant and had no complications (stayed in the nicu for 2 weeks I believe). Hoping your babe stays put for a few more weeks!
  • @jenEP undecided over here! We won't officially decide until baby is born, but last time we had a very strong lean heading into things. We have a short list of two names, but I'm feeling kind of meh about them so feel super undecided.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: June 13 / 30 weeks + 6 days

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a (an): Garden gnome

    Team blue/pink/green: Pink

Upcoming Appointments: Ultrasound in two weeks

How are you feeling?: Pretty crappy. My first pregnancy was such a breeze, but by 5 PM my belly and back ache so badly, I'm useless. I feel like I'm getting more Braxton Hicks this time around, too.

Rants/Raves: I turned 40 yesterday (yay!), which probably accounts for why my body is so bad at being pregnant this time. I still get to the gym once a week, but I was way more active with my first.

Questions: Any other STM/STM+ more achy this time around? I also have a feeling that baby is still breech, so I'm not sure if that plays into the discomfort as well.

GTKY: What is your favorite meal? Anything my mom cooks. There's just something special about food cooked by my mom. I could make the same recipe, but hers will always taste better to me.

Will be back later for tags. <3

  • @jenEP We are in the same boat. Not even close on a name. We have a list of ones we like, but none of them feel like “it”. We had our other 2 named so early that it feels weird to keep calling her baby girl. My kids are still calling her “strawberry” because that’s how big she was when we told them about her.

@saltedcaramel518 I feel baby girl in the same place most days. I think it’s either knees or feet right up under my right ribs.

@curlyandpreggo I feel you on the movement anxiety. Mine is usually pretty active and in those moments when she’s quiet I start to panic a little. Kick counts have been really reassuring for me.

Upcoming Appointments: next Tuesday I will have appt and US

How are you feeling?: exhausted, stretched to the limit, tired of all my congestion.

Rants/Raves: rant mainly because I’m just a whiny baby and ready to have this one because I am physically miserable.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What is your favorite meal? Spaghetti or any pasta
  • @littlemarshmallow Good luck turning baby! I'm so worried that mine is going to stay breech, too. Let me know how it goes.
@curlyandpreggo I hope that your appointments went well. Sorry about the anxiety. I feel that way with movement, too. Her kick counts are always great, but I still get nervous when there are hours in the day that she's sleeping and I don't feel anything.
@maggiemadeit Sending you so many hugs. That sounds so scary, but it seems that your medical team knows the best way to keep you and baby safe. I'm sending you happy thoughts that baby stays put for as long as possible.

Baby is the size of a (an): asparagus

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

    Upcoming Appointments: 04/16

How are you feeling?: This last week I’ve really begun to feel the muscle strain. It’s also harder to keep up with my daughter 😅

Rants/Raves: My daughter took her first steps last week! She’s an active kid. I feel like it’s a workout to keep up with her!

I had this thought that this may be my last pregnancy. So I’m trying to enjoy it while it lasts, but on the other hand I can’t wait to meet baby boy. The physical strain that this pregnancy has put me through has been difficult.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite meal? I love dim sum with the fam. A little bit of everything

    EDD / Weeks + Days: June 27/ 29+1

    FTM/STM/TTM+: 3rd kid , 2nd pregnancy

Baby is the size of a (an): butternut squash

    Team blue/pink/green: blue

Upcoming Appointments: had one last week and Allis good, baby is head down. Passed my glucose test. Next appt is the 18th.

How are you feeling?: still pretty good but getting fatigued much quicker with activity.

Rants/Raves:  rave- it's Friday- thank goodness
Rant- I do my weeks shopping on Sat morning and my husband is out of town which means grocery shopping with my 2 21 month old tomorrow. They are so good but it feels like so much work. Wearing a toddler while pregnant and retrieving the items from the bottom of my cart is no joke. 🤣

Questions: is there typically another US after the anatomy scan for a low risk pregnancy? With the twins I had 12 US by this point. Feels so weird to not check on him more.
2nd question: I've never done an actual kick count. How do you count the movements? Does movement have to stop to count the next? Most of the time the movements are more constant motion than singular kicks.

GTKY: What is your favorite meal? Spaghetti with homeade sauce that includes sausage with French bread. Chicken Tika Masala is 2nd on the list.
  • @maggiemadeit thinking of you! Hang in there and be proud of each extra day baby stays in there. Sounds like you are in good hands when the time comes.

@jenEP I think we have a 1st name but complete undecided on the middle name. First grandson on all sides (all to include steps) and wanting to honor too many of the men.

  • @kbtt2022 I got a 3rd trimester ultrasound at about 30 weeks to check growth and position. Since baby was breech I have another ultrasound at 35 weeks to check position again
  • jenEPjenEP member
@kbtt2022 I didn’t have any ultrasounds after 20 weeks with my first 3. I requested one at 32 weeks this time around just because of my age (39).
  • edited April 15
@kbtt2022 I think for low-risk pregnancies it's typical to only do anatomy scan (I'm AMA so had a 3rd trimester scan, but they explicitly said it was because I'm AMA). For kick counts, I downloaded an app, which I found helpful (though I could see that for some it could be stressful) - it's called Count the Kicks. But the main gist of kick counting is seeing how long it takes to get to 10 movements (and it should be under two hours). They say each movement should be counted separately, but I agree sometimes it can be hard to distinguish. If there's any pause, I count it as separate. Not sure if that's helpful! At the end of the day, the important thing is that baby is moving, so if they are moving, I wouldn't worry too much about it - the counting is more about helping you notice any changes in movement.
  • Thanks all!
@curlyandpreggo I'm technically AMA as well. I'll have to ask next appt if I get another or not.
