Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o April 8

**This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o April 8

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): Benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Finishing up our home study

How are things going?: Good. Our caseworker wrote up our home study. She said her supervisor needs to approve it, then we’ll get a chance to look it over before it is finalized. Then we can start the matching process. Our adoption coordinator said our family profile looks really good and it’s just what placing families are looking for, so hopefully we get matched quickly!

    Any questions?: Nope

GTKY: Will you (or did you) see the solar eclipse on Monday?
Yes, I’ll be going outside to view it, though I’m not traveling to an area of totality. Where I am we are supposed to get 94% coverage, so I think it’ll still look pretty cool.

  • @britters314 That’s amazing news on the profile! FX you’ll get a match in no time. Do the donor families see the home study as well, or is that just internal records for the agency?

    Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): FET

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Canceled 🫠

How are things going?: Ughhhhhh. Got the call that my FET cycle was canceled yesterday afternoon. Full details in spoiler below.

My Friday labs were perfect, lining was sufficiently thick, but my lead follicle was only 14.4mm (they want >17 before the trigger). So we had to wait it out through the weekend and hope I didn’t ovulate. Monday morning sonogram seemed amazing: 8.6mm lining, 18.8mm lead follicle that looked like it hadn’t ruptured. So I went to work thinking we’ve got this!! Then the call came. Bloodwork showed I had ovulated only very recently—LH was still crazy high—but long enough ago that progesterone levels were higher than they were comfortable with to proceed. I know it’s the right call. We worked too hard to get those embryos to introduce them to suboptimal conditions. Just disappointed.

Next time we’re planning a “modified” natural cycle, adding letrozole on CD3-6. Hoping that’ll be the magic formula 🤞

Any questions?: Since we skipped straight to IVF, I’ve never taken letrozole before. Any advice on side effects you experienced, or other things you wish you’d known before starting it?

GTKY: Will you (or did you) see the solar eclipse on Monday? I was technically outside when it was happening, but other than a temperature drop it didn’t feel or look much different where we are—well out of the path of totality. I chose to just head inside to make sure I had time to eat my lunch before a meeting (boring, I know).

  • @aisleofviewtwo that’s so frustrating!
As far as Letrozole- I found it gave me similar symptoms to pms- grumpy, bloated, kinda achey. Clomid I had fewer symptoms - it just gave me a headache.
    Tw- pregnancy loss
The Letrozole I got pregnant every time I took it but no take home baby, fwiw.

@britters314 getting so close! Hopefully the rest of the process goes smoothly.

Diagnosis (if you've been): low Amh, APS, and RPL

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): natural cycle before a FET next month!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): waiting for an answer one way or the other - insurance approvals are all in.

How are things going?: I have a cold which I  annoyed about. Nothing terrible - just enough to make everything harder

    Any questions?: not yet!

GTKY: Will you (or did you) see the solar eclipse on Monday? We did! We have a house in Vermont that was right on the edge of totality so we went there. It was very cool. The less cool part? All the mosquitoes came out during totality!

  • @aisleofviewtwo Only the agency sees the home study. I’m pretty sure that’s true for all types of adoption, too.
  • @charmedlifex3 Thanks for sharing your experiences 💛 also woohoo for insurance approvals! It’s a huge step, and nice to have that stress over and done with well before the cycle gets under way.
