High-Risk Pregnancy

Mass on Placenta

Hi All, FTM expecting a little boy this July. Up until yesterday we were in the non-high risk category. We recently had our anatomy scan (3rd attempt, was sent to a perinatologist because our little guy was uncooperative the first 2 times with showing his heart). The doctors said our baby looks good but there was a mass on my placenta (no venous; measuring 4.5x2x7 cm) as well as placental lakes. They indicated that we will have a followup to monitor and make sure it’s not interfering with baby’s growth. Has anyone had experience with something like this before?

Re: Mass on Placenta

  • Hi there! Going through the same. At the anatomy scan at 22 weeks they found a mass on the placenta and by 24 weeks they diagnosed it as a choriangioma tumor. It’s almost the same size at yours. Baby is totally fine at this point and I’m 25 weeks but scheduled to have biweekly ultrasounds to track progress, and after 30 weeks they will probably be weekly. How’s yours going?
