Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Infant Sleep

Hello, my husband and I had our first child (20 weeks) last year and for the most part we have gotten very lucky. He's almost always happy and he started sleeping through the night by 2 months old (occasionally at first. Now more regularly). He started getting up at 5am back when I was still on leave which wasn't a big issue because frequently he would go back to bed for a while and so would I. Luckily, once I went back to work he started getting up closer to 6 so I have been getting up at 5:30, getting in the shower and my husband will get him and feed him while I finish getting ready. It was working well for the most part. Now, he has decided that 5-5:15am is a wonderful time to start the day. I disagree. I know 30 min of extra sleep doesn't sound like it would make a big difference, but it has. I'm exhausted and concentrating at work has become difficult as a result.

This past weekend he stayed up later than usual due to a late nap, so I thought he'd stay asleep longer, nope. Last night he actually woke up at 10 and drank 7 ounces of formula, so I had the same hopefully thought that he would aleep later bwcause he would be full longer, but no. 4:59 and he was up and wide eyed. He wasn't even that hungry when we woke up this morning (he usually chuggs 6 or 7oz in the morning) so he really just decided he wanted to get up and start the day!

For those of you thinking "go to bed earlier", I've actually always been an early sleeper. Currently I get into bed and fall asleep around 9 most of the time. If I didn't have laundry/dishes to catch up on and a dog to care for I'd be happy to go to bed even earlier, but I do have those things. My husband is wonderful and helps out with everything he can(he does a lot of the dishes!), but getting the baby to sleep in later is what would help the most unfortunately.

I thought maybe some more experienced parents might have some suggestions we haven't tried yet!
