Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o Feb 19

**This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (if you've been):

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched):

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):

How are things going?:

Any questions?:

GTKY: What was the first CD you owned?

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o Feb 19

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): IVF

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): PGT-A and PGT-M genetic testing

How are things going?: Pro tip: don’t schedule your retrieval for the Tuesday before a holiday weekend. (Kidding, of course, I’m aware you don’t really get a say in when your body is ready.) But days 5-7, when we could expect to hear about embryo development, fell EXACTLY over the long weekend, and oh man the silence from the lab was deafening. But we’ve got our results (see spoiler below for details), and biopsied samples are on their way to the genetic testing lab. We should get those results within 15 calendar days!

We retrieved 13 eggs, 12 of which were mature. Found out the next day that 8 had fertilized, and today we learned we’ve got 6 lil bb blastocysts on ice 🥰

Any questions?: Has anybody failed the trial embryo transfer (TET)? What caused the problem? Was a later trial successful? [Apparently they do a practice run while you’re knocked out for the retrieval, but if they have problems, then they’ll insist on coming back for another test before they’ll do a real transfer. And it seems I caused some kind of problems 😕 Will try to learn more from my RE during our follow-up call tomorrow, but this whole process is news to me, so any anecdata or insights welcome!]

GTKY: What was the first CD you owned? My very very first CD was a children’s songs mix called Six Little Ducks, but my first true album was Toby Keith’s How Do You Like Me Now.

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): Benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): I was supposed to do testing but AF started while I was on vacation, so I couldn’t do CD3 bloodwork. I might still be able to get the other testing done though.

How are things going?: Good. I was able to forget about all the stress of this while on vacation, which was nice. Now I’m ready to get back to all our home study paperwork so we can move on to the next step.

    Any questions?: Nope

I think it was a Jump 5 album. Or possibly *NSYNC

So... if you've ever undergone the Ban Hammer, apparently it must not be a permanent thing.  I last used my friend @capnjackharkness laptop, and now I'm on my work laptop and here I am!  Back from 2019!
P.S. I was bitter when I was banned, in the midst of MC #5, and well, I'd love to change my signature but just spent what felt like an eon going through my profile options and can't freaking figure it out.   *sigh*

@aisleviewoftwo Congrats!  :)  Also, I've not heard of the TET.  So, either mine went well, or my clinic doesn't do it?

@britters314 Yay for reducing stress on vacation!

Diagnosis (if you've been):  Unexplained RPL

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): benched. Waiting for CD 1 to go get Lupron Depo shot and then 3 month wait before FET.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): waiting...

How are things going?:  waiting, waiting, waiting.  Trying to remain calm, a bit horrified about the Alabama ruling.  Talked to doctor about disposing of my 9 abnormal embryos.

    Any questions?:

GTKY: What was the first CD you owned? NO idea.  I turn 40 in June and I couldn't tell you for the life of me.  LOL.

  • @dpjennifer I feel like it’s pretty unlikely that the Alabama ruling will lead to laws saying patients can’t dispose of their remaining embryos, especially given the backlash. But even if it does, keep in mind that you won’t be forced to use them all. There is always the option to donate them. Clinic donor programs might not take them since they tested abnormal, but adoption agencies with embryo adoption programs usually will take them.
  • I'm in Alabama. It's a nightmare. IVF was always a hard stop for us but I have a same sex couple as friends and they have to put everything on hold.
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): self benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): nothing

How are things going?: not great. I was supposed to test on Monday but woke up to my period. I fell into a massive depression on Wednesday and I am fighting for dear life right now. I canceled this cycle that was supposed to be an iui with either adding FSH or switching to clomid.

    Any questions?:

  • @ATolentino89 Did your friends’ clinic stop their procedures or did your friends just decide to put things on hold? I read some clinics were stopping procedures but others were just updating their consent paperwork for people storing embryos.
  • @britters314 Yeah, sounds like the backlash has been swift, so hopefully this will reverse things.  We'll see.  But I'd rather be safe than sorry, since we know we want to dispose of these.  They have SERIOUS issues....

@ATolentino89 Sorry for the rough time right now.  I always try to focus on one minute, one hour, one day at a time until I get through the tough times.

  • @britters314 they had to stop. They were about to start another round when this happened and the clinic stopped all new cycles.
@dpjennifer thanks. I have cleared a lot off my plate and got my antidepressant dose increased and am feeling way better.
