Team blue/pink/green: Team Pink 🩷 (Just found out on Friday. We are thrilled!!!)
Upcoming Appointments: OB Appointment February 27th
How are you feeling?: feeling pretty good. I’m in a good rhythm with my sleep, pretty consistent heartburn though the past couple of weeks.
Rants/Raves:
We are enjoying telling everyone about our girl. I was convinced we were having a boy, but was secretly holding out hope for a girl.
Questions:
None
GTKY: What’s your five year plan?
I don’t have a set five year plan, but I know after maternity leave I’ll return to work. I’m not planning too far beyond the first year, but I want to ensure that I’m balancing all my roles as a wife, mother, daughter/ sister/ friend.
Upcoming Appointments: Thursday for 24 week appointment, will be getting my requisition for my glucose tolerance test then I think
How are you feeling?: tired. Not sleeping well and baby seems to be active at night which doesn’t help
Rants/Raves: rave - my 16 month old son is talking more and more and I love it!
Questions: anyone gone skiing recently? We are going with my family next week and I’m not sure how I’ll do. I am usually a good, aggressive skier but I feel like I will be very cautious and get tired easily. And I’ll need help getting my boots on 😂
GTKY: What’s your five year plan? I think we are done after this baby so I’m five years I’m excited to be moving forward with our lives - me working, my kids being a part of sports and starting school. Nothing fancy!
Upcoming Appointments: March 7 for regular midwives appt and glucose test
How are you feeling?: Starting around Friday, I've started to feel very pregnant. I get uncomfortable super easily and I continue to have heartburn (though it continues to be fairly minor). I felt so good through most of my last pregnancy, so I'm thrown by feeling uncomfortable so early.
Rants/Raves:
Rant - I'm not feeling great this morning and my husband was sick last week, so hoping I don't have what he had.
Rave - we are going to Miami this weekend for a little vacation and I'm so excited!
Questions: None right now
GTKY: What’s your five year plan? I very much don't have a five year plan. In general, I find that I know when I'm ready to make changes and try not to pre-plan for them! I'm really happy with my job right now and this will be our last kiddo
Rants/Raves: I went shopping at tjmaxx and Marshalls, I scored a ton of Burts Bees crib sheets and sleepers for a steal! Feeling good to have a bit of the shopping done for this little boy.
Questions:
GTKY: What’s your five year plan? I guess I'd be close to having all my kids in school at that point. So maybe get a puppy, and/or start a part time job with the family Candy business.
@feli14 yay for a little girl! Congrats! @curlyandpreggo hope Miami is warm and sunny for you! Sounds like a wonderful weekend. @littlemarshmallow I think my bump stuck out way to early for me to safely ski or Snowboard this winter. I also am horrible at both and would fall and tumble more than glide down the hill... Infact last time I snowboarded I broke my tailbone lol. So I'm no help sorry lol. I'm just trying not to fall down our stairs these days.
Upcoming Appointments: Feb 28th for 24w checks up, glucose test, and ultrasound (I am going to be at the Dr forever haha)
How are you feeling?: Big/gassy/heartburny. I ate too much “football food” for the Super Bowl yesterday and had heartburn all last night and all today. Learned my lesson on that one, I need to mix in some healthy food haha. I have also had a lot of gas this last week, which has been no fun.
Rants/Raves: This is kinda both: we bought a sectional in Nov and it finally came in on Friday (yay because our old couch needed to go). I, however, did not realize that it was coming in 14 boxes and needed to be put together. We spent many hours this weekend setting it up and now it is done and the boxes are out of the house. It was horrible but I am so glad it is over
Questions: NATM
GTKY: What’s your five year plan? Oh wow that’s a long time! We would like to have another kid. It was difficult to have our first (we had 3 losses) so we may start trying soon after this one is born and see how that goes. I have been a little disappointed in my company recently so depending on how baby 2 goes I may start looking for another position. But mainly we are just excited to enter our family era!
@littlemarshmallow Skiing and ice skating were on the top of my OBGYN's list of excercises/activities not to do while pregnant. I'm sure you're a pro, but be careful. Maybe stick to the bunny slopes? @curlyandpreggo I hope you're not coming down with something, and enjoy your trip! @kbru88 I love the Burt's Bees baby stuff! @sbaby2023 We bought a couch like that recently and it turned into an IKEA furtinure level fight between me and my husband (we both like to hold the tools and be the person who puts it all together LOL). Glad you made it through!
EDD / Weeks + Days: June 14/ 22+4

Baby is the size of a (an): coconut
Team blue/pink/green: pink
Upcoming Appointments: End of the month with my regular OBGYN
How are you feeling?: Overall pretty good. Some hearburn here and there, and some exhauston/trouble sleeping at night. I really can't believe we're more than half way through now. It seems so wild to me, especially after all it took to get here.
Rants/Raves: Rave: My health insurance has an OBGYN nurse that they contract to call every pregnant patient and check in periodically. We had a really nice conversation and then she told me about all my benefits, like an app, breast pump, and lactation consultant. So helpful! Rant: I've started getting Braxton-Hicks contractions. It's been a while and I forgot what it feels like - ouch! I had 6 or 7 yesterday and it's making me so nervous. I'm on pelvic rest to avoid contractions, so these are freaking me out a little bit. All good so far, but I will defintiely be discussing with my OBGYN at my next appt.
Questions: NATM
GTKY: What’s your five year plan? While I am a planner in general, I rarely have a plan that goes 5 years. It sounds cheesy, but the things that are right for me have found me at the right time in my life, and I have faith that they will continue to find me in the future.
How are you feeling?: Okay overall. My back hurts at the end of the day. I seem to have one day each week where I'm completely spent, have no energy, just feel yuck.
Rants/Raves: My genetic testing showed that I'm a carrier of a gene that causes spinal malformation. My doctor wanted my husband to get tested for the gene as well since the baby would have a 25% chance of having a spinal birth defect if he was also a carrier. We just got the call that he's negative. So thankful that's not something we have to be concerned about.
Questions: Isn't someone in here going to pelvic floor physical therapy? Was it recommended by your doctor?
GTKY: What’s your five year plan? Long-term planning give me hives
Married: May 2012 DS1: May 2016 DS2: Jan 2019 Baby #3 EDD: 6/18/24
@saltedcaramel518 I’m not going right now, but pelvic floor PT was a game changer for me after my second was born. It was recommended by my midwife because I had pretty extensive tearing and surgical repair. Unfortunately not covered by my health insurance at the time, but worth every out-of-pocket penny spent. Highly recommend if you have access!
@maggiemadeit I've been having lots of Braxton-Hicks as well this past week or so. So your are not alone with that symptom. But definitely talk to your Dr since you are on pelvic rest! Hopefully it's just fine and normal.
@saltedcaramel518, I asked my doctor about PT and she said that the first reccomendation would be a maternity belt. She's not against doing PT if/when I need it, but I think her concern was more that it is a time commitment with multiple weekly appointments, and not wanting my pregnancy to become a full time job for me right now.
Upcoming Appointments: 3 weeks with glucose 1 hour
How are you feeling?: About the same in most areas - heartburn under control with meds, but maybe picking up a little this week, baby's position/size making it difficult to breathe and needing to pee SO MUCH, feeling bigger all the time, but also getting used to it, loving all of her extra movement! Pregnancy insomnia is worse lately, almost feels like 50/50 if I'm going to wake up and not be able to sleep for at least an hour or two. Still very stressed about logistics of health care insurance, which hospital I may be forced to deliver at, maternity leave, childcare, ect. especially after my husband's lay off.
Rants/Raves: Loud construction going on at work in the mornings. I was nervous about baby girl's ears, so I've been able to work from home a lot more lately and it is really nice! Especially appreciating a little bit more of a sleep in with all of the bad nights' sleep lately.
Questions: Does anyone have Valentine's day plans/traditions?
We usually don't do much, but this year I got us tickets to a murder mystery dinner event! Hoping that they don't expect me to act, I am awful at being put on the spot lol!
GTKY: What’s your five year plan? Get to know this little girl! 😍 I want to learn everything about her, enjoy her early childhood and my husband and I becoming parents as much as I can! I'd love to give her a sibling too when the time is right for us. Just so ready for this crazy wonderful phase of our lives. We've waited for it for so long. I know our jobs and everything else will work out ok.
@stress_engine that murder mystery dinner sounds so fun. They typically don’t have you act, but since most are interactive you can ask them questions to get them to try and reveal things to you.
We are having a potluck tonight with some friends. Exchanging gifts for each other after work and going out for a nicer dinner in a couple of weeks.
@saltedcaramel518 I'm going to pelvic floor PT and can't recommend it enough. I did during my last pregnancy too. My midwives were all for it this time, but last time my OBs seemed skeptical (but gave me a referral nonetheless). It is an extra time commitment as someone else said, but I am doing it every other week which is a bit more sustainable (she also comes to my house, which is extremely helpful). I highly recommend that everyone go after delivery, but it can be super helpful before too if you are having issues...
@maggiemadeit Just adding that I am also have Braxton Hicks and I talked to my midwives about it and they said it can be more common in second time + pregnancies. Definitely still sounds like a good idea to talk to your OB, but just letting you know you aren't alone!
Rants/Raves: excited for my parents to visit and help with the girls! One more week!
Questions: NA
GTKY: What’s your five year plan? My husband is a planner/prepper so I've been forced to think/ talk through life goals A LOT. Planning to step down from current role as a senior manager and just work part time or PRN as a PT in 1-2 years. Maybe have 1 more kid but let's see how 3 goes 1st. Primary focus to be a SAHM and homeschooling as well as do more homesteading. I'd love to get bees, maybe a goat. Right now I just have hens. The last 10+ years we have focused on setting our selves up financially. My husband works so much and the goal is he will cut back on projects to work more of a regular schedule vs 70-80 hours a week so we can enjoy being a family.
