Has anyone had this? Did it go away on its own for you? Also read that you will likely have a boy if you have this was that true in your case? How long did the bleeding last for you?
I was just diagnosed with a complete placenta previa at my anatomy scan a few weeks ago, so I can only answer with what my doctor told me. My MFM said they are common at 20 weeks, but many will resolve by 32 weeks, and a lot of it has to do with placement (if your placenta is centered over your cervix it is less likely to move compared to having just an edge of your placenta over the cervix). Previa is more likely when you're carrying a boy (also in twin pregnancies, if you've had a previous c section or uterine scar tissue removed, etc).
I personally am carrying a girl, but I have nearly all the other risk factors. I have only had 1 significant bleed, back at 8 weeks. I was put on pelvic rest and will have another scan at 28 weeks to check on our progress.
Did your doctor put you on any restrictions or book you for another scan?
I was diagnosed with marginal placenta previa (it’s near the edge of my cervix) at my anatomy scan and I am having a boy. Other than my age and it being a boy, I don’t have any other issues that I would have had this. They said it’s likely to resolve on its own, but I have a scan with a MFM this Thursday so I’m hoping to see if there is any movement away from my cervix. I’ll keep you posted!
Thank you so much for the information. I have had bleeding at 8 weeks and then again at 12 weeks which was so bad I was kept in the hospital for 2 days. I also had subchronic hemorrhage so I was wondering if the bleeding was from that. I have had 2 previous c sections. I am on bed rest now and hoping it can heal and I can be off it soon.
I was diagnosed with a complete placenta previa at my last ultrasound and am devastated to have a c section. I’m only 18 weeks tomorrow, which is my next ultrasound with the MFM, and am hoping so much my placenta has moved. I’ve been reading up on caesareans and after two unmedicated vaginal births it’s the last thing I want. Also carrying a girl. Anyone else feeling anxiety over this news?
I was diagnosed with this with 1 pregnancy. It did end up moving as I grew larger. It was sure stressful waiting. I hope you all can find some relief that most do move and take care of themselves. Thinking of you all.
