Re: Healthy Habits - February
I was doing SO well at working out, until there were snow days and everyone in my family got sick and then I completely fell off for like three weeks. I worked out Friday and Saturday and I'd like to get back into working out 3-4x per week (or more if I can). I also try to remind myself that I walk about 30 minutes every day (taking my daughter to and from daycare) and that counts too!
In terms of food, I'm trying to maintain balance. Definitely giving into some pregnancy cravings, but trying to make sure I get in plenty of healthy food too. I find that my body self corrects while I'm pregnant to some degree (I spent a few days eating bad and then all my body wanted was salads to get some veggies in). Cooking can be hard some weeks depending on my energy level. Tomorrow I'm making this, which I'm excited about! https://pinchofyum.com/bbq-salmon-mango-salsa
I gained more weight than I'm comfortable with before my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies, but my body thins itself out during pregnancy while maintaining a pretty steady weight. With this pregnancy and my second I got aversions to coffee (which I usually like with more than a healthy amount of french vanilla creamer in it). I also get really strong cravings for lots of our RO water, specifically. These two changes coupled with the mountain of work our bodies do to grow babies takes care of most of it for me.
My health win is that I went for a run! I have been missing running and using my body and decided it on a whim. It wasn't long, it was more of a walk with running in it. I went about a mile, to the end of my road and back on a lunch break. I felt so good after!
Lately I've been on a kick to make a sort of caprese salad. It's just grape or cherry tomatoes sliced in half, mozzarella pearls, and some pesto all mixed in a bowl. It's an easy healthy, savory side for meals or get togethers.
I have also defintiely gained more weight than I would like during this pregnancy, but it's happened in my previous full term pregnancies too, and my OBGYN isn't the least bit concerned so I am not going to worry about it either. Just trying to continue making good food choices and keep moving!
@maple1422 Your post inspired me and I bought the ingredients for caprese salad yesterday. Sounds sooooo good!
