Five Things Friday 2/2

What five things, good, bad, or neutral, are going on for you this week?

Re: Five Things Friday 2/2

  • 1. I waited too long to really start potty training because he always gave me a hard time and I didn’t want to rush it . But I’m done buying pull ups so it’s happening whether he likes it or not (he doesn’t) lol how many accidents am I going to clean up :)
    2. We are pretty close to settling on a name I think?
    3. There’s always drama with my mom’s life, it’s stressful but at the same time something for me to read about (in my sibling group text) cause I don’t really have anything going on most of the time!
    4. My H got me coffee unexpectedly yesterday, even though it wrecked my stomach 😅
    5. TW pet death…..One of the household cats passed away suddenly at the house the other night. He was technically my SIL cat but was still living here. That was super sad & traumatic! He was only 8 :( had undiagnosed heart disease.

  • 1. I failed my 1 hour glucose test yesterday, so I did the three hour today, still waiting on results. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing that I didn't feel like I crashed after?
    2. Struggling a little bit with friendships lately, which is taking a bit of a toll on my mental health. Mostly just feeling sort of lonely and ignored, but reaching out continually makes me feel like a nuisance.
    3.  The nice weather we are having is making me ready for spring, even though I'm not prepared for the other big things spring will bring this year! 😆
    4. I got summoned for jury duty this week, but the trial cancelled at the last minute, so I didn't have to go!
    5. The doctor things the tingling in my fingers is pregnancy related carpal tunnel, which isn't fun, but it's nice having the mystery gone and the reassurance that it should go away after the baby gets here.
  • 1. My mom is visiting this weekend and we’re going to go through baby stuff together.

    2. The weather is back in park play date range and it’s always nice to both get the kids out of the house and socialize.

    3. I’ve been invited to join a book club and this is one where I’ll know one person and acquainted with others plus I also trust their book club choices more and that they’ll actually discuss the book. This is what I’ve been looking for.

    4. DH was told he’s not on the promotion list for March but probably for July. This wishy washy answer and disappointment on disappointment might actually have pushed him to agree with me that it’s time to look for a new job. So I think he’s going to spend his paternity leave applying and interviewing which is fine with me! And about freaking time. He’s been put off for literally 2.5 years and needed to look for a job a year ago.

    5. Excited about my upcoming reads.
  • @kamikazezoomy I fully expect to fail my glucose next week, so, solidarity? I’m just biding my time until my inevitable diagnosis. Oy. Also, I’ve been getting tingly fingers too, and also assumed carpal tunnel but I appreciate the reminder to add it to my list to discuss with the doctor.
  • @virtaur I’m sorry to hear about the cat!
  • @hgrich thank you! ❤️
  • @virtaur losing a pet is hard, and when they're quite young too :disappointed: Sending you good vibes

@kamikazezoomy I've been feeling the same about friendships, all my friends live in other states so unless I'm reaching out, it's radio silence most of the time. There are a few who reach out more often, so I'm giving myself permission to focus on nurturing those

@HGRich what book genres do you enjoy reading?

  • 1. It's birthday week for three of my friends and my MIL. H and I treated his parents to dinner at a nice restaurant last night and they've invited us over today for some grilled pork chops. I have a virtual birthday hangout with one of my friends later tonight, and the other two bought some of my art prints so I gave them a birthday discount lol.

    2. My manager at work let me know they've laid off two members from our team. It was due to budget cuts and the industry I work in not doing very well this year. They told me and my colleagues not to worry, but I'm worrying anyway. 😎

    3. H and I finally finished putting up wallpaper in the nursery. We also built a custom frame for an art piece I picked up months ago, and started building a toy chest for little one.

    4. I impulse bought a cookbook full of Filipino American dessert recipes. It's so colorful and the recipes sound amazing, can't wait to try some out

    5. Finalized the desserts for the baby shower! I found a local, family owned, gluten free bakery with amazing cupcakes. The owner has experience with celiac disease so I'm confident in serving their desserts to my GF guests. They'll be sending me pictures of designs to match the theme (forest and woodland creatures) and I can't wait to see em
  • @denise_amd I primarily read fantasy and romance. Sometimes scifi and mystery, but mostly those. And I read about 5-7 nonfiction/educational per year.
