2nd Trimester

Bending at 20 weeks

Does bending over harm my baby ? I tend to lean forward when sitting and lean on my knees because it is most comfortable. I want to make sure I’m not hurting my baby.

  • Nope, if anything you’ll feel uncomfortable or in pain before it ever even bothers baby! I do the same thing and now at 24 weeks I notice it’s just not as comfy as it used to be as baby grows & my belly gets bigger.
  • Leaning forward when sitting is actually good for baby’s positioning! If you’re not trying for a vaginal birth it matters less but, keeping your weight forward instead of leaning back when sitting encourages baby to be head down with their back to your belly, which is the “ideal” position for moving through the birth canal.
