How are you feeling?: have a head cold and sore throat so that has been annoying. Otherwise I think my morning sickness is finally subsiding!

Rants/Raves: we have to put our dog down Friday... She has been struggling with neuropathy for over a year now, and it's time.  She has been with us for 14years. Almost our whole entire marriage! She has been there for every pregnancy. Has geeted every newborn home... I'm an emotional wreck and not looking forward to telling the kids. Trying to make her last several days special. 

Questions: 

GTKY: what did you want, as a child, to be when you grew up, and how similar is it to what you do now? A stay at home mom. Living my dream out exactly how I'd always hoped I could. We have had to make sacrifices to make it all work, but it has been such a blessing to have a big family ❤️.

How are you feeling?: sore and tired. My hips and sciatica have been bugging my lately

Rants/Raves: baby is healthy! Measuring in 32nd percentile according to our scan last week. Feels different for me because our first was always measuring well above 50th. 

Rant: I wanted to do the old wives take for fun with baby’s heart rate to tell the sex but they were measuring exactly 140 (the myth says over 140 or under 140 for boy or girl, can’t remember which) 😂

Questions: 

GTKY: what did you want, as a child, to be when you grew up, and how similar is it to what you do now? 

I always wanted to be a teacher and that’s what I am!

Upcoming Appointments: Rescheduled anatomy scan on February 7 and midwives follow up on February 8

How are you feeling?: Today I am exhausted for some reason, but other than that generally okay. I've also had some mild heartburn yesterday and today, but I'm hoping that it won't be a recurring issue (I didn't have any last time)

Rants/Raves: 

Rave: Getting moving on some stuff that needs to get done around my house. It's also stressing me out a bit, but overall very happy that we are getting things moving. 

Rant: I had to reschedule my anatomy scan from 1/19 because I had the stomach flu, and they couldn't get me in until 2/7 which is just a bummer. 

Questions: None right now!

GTKY: what did you want, as a child, to be when you grew up, and how similar is it to what you do now? I guess it depends on at what point in my childhood, but for a good while I wanted to be a marine biologist (I LOVED dolphins). I don't think it's similar at all - I'm work in health policy now.

Upcoming Appointments: regular OBGYN visit on Thursday 

How are you feeling?: Pretty well and also pretty large lol. Starting to get a little heartburn at night, but still doing fine with just Tums. I know I'll end up on Pepcid eventually...

Rants/Raves: Rave: I’m starting to get my self organized to actually prepare for this baby, especially knowing now that she will likely be early. Went through our storage and did an inventory, and made a priotized list of what we need. Next step is to actually start to buy the things we don't have. Got a sweet free (!) baby swing from a neighbor the other day. I'm very frugal and I hate buying new things when something perfectly good and slightly used already exists, so trying to thrift whatever I can, while also being realistic that we don't have forever to wait for things. Rant: Why are there so many choices for everything? I feel like a first time mom again. It's so overwhelming!

GTKY: what did you want, as a child, to be when you grew up, and how similar is it to what you do now? I wanted to be a ballerina as a kid. I danced for most of my childhood and even got into a conservatory program after high school. I ended up becoming a scientist and now a medical writer. Probably for the best becuase I am a much better writer than I ever was a dancer LOL.

@curlyandpreggo I loved marine biology as a kid too! Really showing my nerd here, but I competed in the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (think team Jeopardy but all the questions were oceanography) and my team was #2 in the country!

Upcoming Appointments: Had my anatomy scan last week and baby boy looked great and is measuring a few days ahead and is apparently really tall, which is funny because my husband and I are very average height. Next appointment isn’t until Feb 28th, which seems so long to wait!

How are you feeling?: Overall I am feeling good. Like many of you I am feeling big and starting to waddle a little. I feel like I have started to gain more weight than I think I should be (at least according to the internet) but not really knowing what to do about it because I don’t feel like I’m eating that much and I am exercising regularly.  

Rants/Raves: Rant: I am starting to feel more emotional this week. There have been a few times that I have wanted to cry for absolutely no reason, so that’s been fun. I am not usually an emotional person so it’s been a real adjustment.

Rave: my favorite author is coming out with a new book tomorrow and I cannot wait to start it! 

Questions: My husband and I were talking about putting together a Will since this is our first kid. Does anyone have recommendations of using a lawyer vs one of the online Will companies?

GTKY: what did you want, as a child, to be when you grew up, and how similar is it to what you do now? 

I wanted to be a pharmacist for the longest time - it was a super weird thing for a 7 year old to want to be haha. I ended up in the pharma industry, but working as a regulatory specialists so I guess kinda related!

@kbur88 I am so sorry to hear about your dog! Losing a pet is so hard and especially since they have been such a huge part of your life for so long!

@sbaby2023 Is your favorite author SJM? I'm guessing so because I'm also really excited about CC. I've read all her books and love her. Also, I wouldn't worry about weight gain unless your doctor says anything - just continue trying to eat healthy and exercise!

@curlyandpreggo yes it is SJM and CC3! I just finished the last of the TOG series a couple weeks ago and have read the others before that. I am so excited and nervous on how this book will go. 

Thanks for the advice, I know that in my head but I am still nervous about gaining too much even though my Dr has said nothing. But I know a lot is probably out of my control

@curlyandpreggo and @sbaby I too am waiting for the book! Pre ordered an exclusive one back in august should arrive tomorrow. My bestie ordered a physical and download one because she didn’t want to wait.

Upcoming Appointments: Cardiologist this Thursday to see why I am still having heart palpitations with this pregnancy and post covid(Nov) then referral to high risk for anatomy scan next Wednesday  

How are you feeling?: exhausted, already feel squished internally

Rants/Raves: rave this past weekend my husband was able to feel the baby kick. Earlier then we expected.
rant nervous about the next two appointments and lack of sleep I am getting.

GTKY: what did you want, as a child, to be when you grew up, and how similar is it to what you do now? 

I’m almost spot on. I wanted to be a vet or anything with animals really, pretty for as long as I can remember. I am a liscensed vet tech. So basically I am a BSN for the vet world. I realized in high school I wanted to go to college for vet tech instead of vet, I love all the hands on, dirty work.

How are you feeling?:  reasonably well. My hips have been sore from side sleeping, and continuing on with the heartburn. Tums and mint tea really seem to help though! 

Rants/Raves: 

Rave- had my first OB appointment and he was great. Answered all my questions and feel like I’m in good hands.

I wanted to be a Teacher and now I work in Human Resources.

@sbaby2023 @curlyandpreggo I’m a SJM girly too. I’ve read through all of ACOTAR, and I just finished Empire of Storms in the TOG series. CC will be my next series for sure!

Upcoming Appointments: Had my anatomy scan yesterday; waiting for a call to schedule a follow-up scan with a MFM specialist (nothing is wrong; it's due to me being advanced maternal age). Regular check up in 4 weeks.

How are you feeling?: Getting uncomfortable, especially my back hurting. I have constant sinus congestion.

Rants/Raves: Rave: everything looked fine on the anatomy scan! With both of my previous pregnancies, they found issues which required specialist visits and extra scans. Thankfully, the issues ended up being nothing, but it caused lots of anxiety throughout both of those pregnancies. 

Questions: 

GTKY: what did you want, as a child, to be when you grew up, and how similar is it to what you do now? I wanted to be a teacher like my mom. I'm now an accountant. I would make a terrible teacher lol.
