No, why would you go that early?  Most do not go until 8-12 weeks, if a dating scan is needed..  Don't be surprised if you only see a fetal pole and sac.

  • I saw my first at 6w 1 day...it was rather faint though ...so dnt panic..my next scan is at 10 weeks and am hopefull
  • I’m scheduled for my first ultrasound at 6w3d (one week from today). I am really hoping to see a heartbeat!
  • I went thinking I was 7 weeks, just to meet the doctor and see if we liked her, not expecting an ultrasound but she ended up doing one. She said I was only 5.5 weeks and we did see a heart beat! But the baby just looked like a little dot.
  • I had a belly ultra sound 6 weeks 0 days didn’t expect to see anything except maybe a dot if I was lucky. I saw a large fluid sac with 0.32cm ‘baby’ blinking light a light bulb - that was the heartbeat!!!
  • I went into the hospital with a kidney stone and found out that I was 6 weeks pregnant! I was able to see the "yolk sac" and baby inside with a regular ultrasound but they had to do transvaginal to see the heartbeat.
  • I guess you need to check between 8-13 weeks. You might probably see the yolk sac only at an early stage of ultrasound.
  • I went in to get dated for my pregnancy because I hadn’t gotten my period yet after my last baby (she’s only 9 and a half months now) and I saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks. I wasn’t expecting much with not knowing how far along I was but it was so exciting! I hope you’re able to see it too but if not, don’t worry! Every baby is different and it can take longer sometimes. At my appointment they did an internal ultrasound so I’m not sure if it would’ve been the same doing an external or not.
  • I have an appointment at 6 weeks 5 days because of how horrible my nausea has been. I’m not sure if they’ll do an ultrasound, but that’s in a week and half so I guess I’ll find out! Good luck :)

I had a scan today at 6 weeks 4 days (early scan due to it being an IVF pregnancy), and saw a heartbeat flicker :). The heart rate was apparently “low-normal” at 97 beats/minute. I will have another scan one week from now and am really hoping it picks up!!
  • Yes you can see it. Not always, but I have twice this early. I went at about 6 weeks this time as I thought I was further based on LMP and saw heartbeat. I also saw it on another pregnancy that early. Many people go in before 8-12 weeks for a number of reasons. Even something as simple as thinking you are further along. Some people don't think past their own experiences. Good luck hope it goes well and you see that little flicker.
  • My first pregnancy, I was pregnant with twins. We could only see one heart beat at 6 weeks. At 7 weeks, we were able to see both.
  • I did IVF so I was able to get an early ultrasound.

Any update? How did it turn out? I just had a 7w scan where baby is measuring at 6w4, with a heart rate of 96… going back in a few days and am super nervous
  • Just had a scan at 6w 1d and there was a heartbeat. But everyone is different. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was just a yolk and fetal pole.
  • I just got an elective ultrasound today at 7w2d and was measuring 6w6d. We saw the baby moving and a heartbeat. It was very reassuring since I've had a loss in the past. It is very early and all babies are not always able to be seen this early. Please don't panic. 8 weeks is the average time to see a heartbeat and baby
  • I thought I was “miscarrying” at 4 weeks, 3 days. Went to the ER. Ultrasound didn’t show anything but a cyst in R ovary. So it was simple cyst vs. ectopic pregnancy vs. early intrauterine pregnancy.

I went back to get a follow up can at 5 weeks, 4 days. I was able to see a heart beat (108 bpm) & baby was measuring at 6 weeks, 0 days.

Everyone is different. Just give it time mama 🖤
  • I did, but even if you can hear the heartbeat, they will be able to tell you if the growth is on track
  • I was able to hear a heartbeat at a little over 6 weeks but found out at my next appt that my doc doesn’t like to do the Doppler thingy that early in case it affects the baby so I won’t get to heart it again until second trimester. Every pt and every doc is different it seems.
  • I have. I went in for bleeding and they did a scan and we saw the HB.
