Upcoming Appointments: Ultrasound - Jan 26 & First OB appointment on Jan 29.
How are you feeling?: I’ve gotten my energy back. I just started prenatal yoga and it feels good
Rants/Raves:
Received a promotion at work so I’ve just been learning the ropes of my new role. Keeping me on my toes but I like the challenge that it brings.
Questions: None
GTKY: what’s a family activity you can’t wait to experience with your little one?
First Christmas is something my hubby and I are very much looking forward to. Especially since our little one should be just over or around 6 months at that time .
Upcoming Appointments: ultrasound and dr app on Jan 22
How are you feeling?: dizzy when I stand still/stand up too fast and my hips are sore
Rants/Raves: it’s been -40 for the past 4 days and I am so over it!
Questions:
GTKY: what’s a family activity you can’t wait to experience with your little one?
I am so excited to watch my son be a big brother with everything! Watching the two kids swimming, playing together, and going for family walks in the evening (when it’s warmer of course 😂)
How are you feeling?: overall pretty good. Having some back pain when sitting/laying in certain positions or if I take a long walk
Rants/Raves: Rave: We set up my husbands new office this weekend so we are one step closer to starting the nursery!
Questions: We are thinking about signing up for a baby basics class since this is our first kid. Did anyone who has done these classes in the past find them useful? Would you recommend the in person ones or are the online ones ok?
GTKY: what’s a family activity you can’t wait to experience with your little one?
I have always dreamed of taking my kids to Disneyland/world. It was a big part of my childhood and I think it will be magical to do it with my own kids. That’s probably some time away since they probably won’t enjoy it until they are at least 3 and of course there are other things I am looking forward to, but that is the first thing that comes to mind because it’s been a big dream of mine.
How are you feeling?: tired, dealing with a lot of round ligament pain.
Rants/Raves:
Questions:
GTKY: what’s a family activity you can’t wait to experience with your little one? So every 5 years we have retaking our engagement photos with our growing family. This Fall will be the first time we will be retaking them with our whole family complete ❤️.
Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan and MFM on Friday!
How are you feeling?: Overall pretty good, just annoyed at all the germs this time of year. I swear I have been low level sick with a different cough or cold for 6 weeks straight. Over it.
Rants/Raves: I’m so excited to get a good look at baby girl this week. My husband hasn’t been able to be at an ultrasound since 7 weeks and I’m excited for him to see her again too.
Questions: Why are baby names so hard? lol
GTKY: what’s a family activity you can’t wait to experience with your little one? We have a couple of family traditions that I’m really looking forward to doing as a family of 5. We go to our county fair every year and we go on an annual day trip over to Martha’s Vineyard, and I’m excited to do those things together. I’m mostly looking forward to seeing the big kids have a baby sister. My son (4) has been so sweet, rubbing my belly, talking to the baby, and he brings her toys and puts them on my bump for her. They’re both really good kids and they’re going to be awesome big brother/sister to this new addition ❤️
@sbaby2023, I'm a first time mom, but my husband and I are currently taking a 6 week in person course that is offered for free at the hospital we are planning on using. I think it is highly valuable! I'm sure you can get the same information with an online option, but the online version of the one we are taking looked like a really long one day crash course. I liked the idea of splitting it up, and the instructor who is an L&D nurse is very passionate about the topics! She often asks us about our unique expectations, concerns, and experiences related to the topics. For these reasons I would reccomend in person, but any way you get the information will likely be valuable!
@maggiemadeit, baby names are the worst! 😂 I've never been more confused. My husband and I finally like one and it's growing on me! I want to keep gathering options, but I'm so exhausted looking at all of them and feeling absolutley nothing!
Team blue/pink/green: We officially have a GIRL! 🩷
Upcoming Appointments: 4 weeks from now, need to finish getting a few things that weren't visible on the anatomy scan, plus regular check up
How are you feeling?: Always feels TMI, but constipation has really kicked up again! 🙄 Heartburn is staying mostly managable under medication. Pregnancy insomnia 3/5 nights last week, which was rough. Seeing baby girl on the anatomy scan was such a high! She is more perfect than I ever could have imagined! 🥰 Telling our families was also so much fun!
Rants/Raves: Lots of highs and lows. We just found out that my husband is getting laid off and it is stressful. We will get through it, we have a lot of support, and I know it will be ok. It's definitely not the hardest thing that we've been through together! But I'm obviously worried about him, worried about switching health care plans right now, and I am especially mourning the 16 weeks 100% paid paternity leave that we were looking forward to! 😥
Questions: Baby is getting stronger in there and I love it! I'm getting really impatient for my husband to feel it too! I know it can't be predicted exactly, but around what time do any STMs+ remember feeling the kicks break through?!
GTKY: what’s a family activity you can’t wait to experience with your little one?
I can't wait to take summer family walks with our dogs and baby! ❤️ Sounds so nice, especially with these below freezing temps!
@stress_engine everyone is different. With both my babies my husband was able to feel kicks at about the same time I was. It depends on the placenta and your body type I think!
How are you feeling?: Had a weird day yesterday..my belly felt very uncomfortable/tight, my back hurt, had no energy. I opened up my pregnancy app today for the 18 week update, and it said that baby could be going through a growth spurt right now, so that probably explains it.
Rants/Raves: Rant: I have insatiable hunger from the time I wake up until about 3-4 p.m. I try to eat filling, protein-packed foods.. doesn't matter. I have to eat every 1.5-2 hours.
Petty rant: I'm really over all the comments about us having a girl. Every single person we've told about the pregnancy has said they hope we have a girl. I think my immediate reaction is that I have to manage everyone's feelings about it if it's a boy. I know I really don't, but that's just my initial reaction.
Rave: I found a secondhand Uppababy stroller with a bassinet for $350.
Questions:
GTKY: what’s a family activity you can’t wait to experience with your little one? I'm excited to see my boys be big brothers. Since they're older, they'll be able to appreciate a lot of the sweet babyhood things along with us.
Married: May 2012 DS1: May 2016 DS2: Jan 2019 Baby #3 EDD: 6/18/24
Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow for a check-up, anatomy scan in 3 weeks
How are you feeling?: really good! My morning sickness is completely gone, and I have much more energy. I don’t have any aches and pains yet, so I’m trying to enjoy this stage while it lasts!
Rants/Raves: Rant: we had freezing ice last night and we live on a hill. School is cancelled and I’m not sure if we’ll make it to my daughter’s dentist appt in an hour. Rave: I got some maternity clothes so I actually have a few things that fit.
Questions:
GTKY: what’s a family activity you can’t wait to experience with your little one? Even though it’s a few years out, I can’t wait to ski with all the kids.
Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy Scan tomorrow with midwife follow up on 1/26
How are you feeling?: My back is definitely hurting and I'm having trouble sleeping, but other than that okay!
Rants/Raves: Lots of rants this week and not so many raves (I think even my rave below is a secret rant)
Rant: I've felt the baby move a couple times, but haven't really been feeling flutters and it's making me so anxious. I'm glad I have my anatomy scan tomorrow and a midwife appt next week. I know you generally feel them earlier with the second+, but I feel like I was already feeling flutters at this point in my last pregnancy. I have felt her some, but things that felt like bigger movements and when I was in a weird position in yoga. I'm hoping they start soon for my own peace of mind.
Rant: I'm over the cold weather. It's so much warmer here than what some of y'all are experiencing, but I do not like the cold and I'm over the below freezing temperatures. Also, snow is fun with a toddler, but in my opinion, SNOW DAYS (aka daycare is closed and I can't really go anywhere) not so much.
Rave: After a three day weekend + a daycare snow day closure + a toddler sick day with my husband being sick and out of commission for the last two of those days I am finally back at work. I don't think I've ever been so happy to sign on to work. I'm honestly not sure how stay at home moms do it (though being cooped up inside for three of those days was a big contributor to the exhaustion level).
Questions:
GTKY: what’s a family activity you can’t wait to experience with your little one? Really struggling with this one - I'm looking forward to beach days, but that feels so far away!
@feli14 Congrats on the promotion! New challenges are always so much fun!
@littlemarshmallow Oof on the -40! That sounds rough. We are having lows in the teens and I am struggling with that, so I can't even imagine what that's like.
@sbaby2023 I took ALL the classes last time around (multiple birth classes, baby basics, baby safety, and breastfeeding). I honestly found them all helpful, though admittedly to different degrees, but in all of them there are things I remembered and put into practice at some point. It also just helped me feel calmer and more prepared, which is definitely important! Things were still all virtual last time from COVID for me last time, but I thought online was fine!
@kbru88 Sorry you are having RLP - it's the worst. Mine has eased up, though I still get it some. Hoping yours calms down soon!
@maggiemadeit baby naming is SO hard. I always feel like we are never going to figure it out. And my neighbor said to me the other day - a name is the most precious gift you can give - sweet, but thanks for the pressure!
@stress_engine I don't believe in TMI during pregnancy I'm really sorry to hear about your husband. That sounds rough to go through period, especially when you are pregnant. I hope he finds something new soon!
@saltedcaramel518 The comments about gender are a lot... Hopefully they aren't banking on it being a girl, just trying to engage!
Upcoming Appointments: Had my anatomy scan today. Next checkup is 2/13
How are you feeling?: Great! Sleep has been iffy and I’ve had the wildest dreams of my life, but no real complaints!
Rants/Raves: Rant…my in laws will not stop touching my belly!!! I just feel like they’re jiggling my fat pouch and there’s nothing I can do🥴 They’re very loving people and I’m so blessed to have them in my life, but I did not grow up in a touchy family so I cringe everytime my belly gets grabbed lol
Rave… After 3 “no result” NIPT tests and 8 weeks of waiting, we finally had our anatomy scan today and found out we’re having a little boy, and he’s looking healthy! Both of our families are convinced it’s a girl, so I’m very excited to tell them otherwise😆
Questions: Nothing right now!
GTKY: what’s a family activity you can’t wait to experience with your little one? I can't wait to see my husband as a father. This may be cheesy, but he is the sweetest, kindest man and our son is so lucky to have him as a dad🥰
