We don’t do nurseries because we co sleep. And we don’t have an extra room for one right now anyway. My son has his own room but he still sleeps with us.

For the baby we will be using the graco pack n play as a bassinet. Then I’ll have a dresser for her. Other than that we probably won’t have any extra decor. When we get our own place again we’ll do decor in her bedroom.
This is the dresser I like. It’s been on sale a few times so I’ll wait for that hopefully in the next couple of months. And I’ll put a changing pad on top, even though most of the time I change them on the bed 🤣

We are going to put a mini crib in the guest room for when he’s older. We also cosleep, though only the first six ish months. Third baby problems—I have no plans to make a theme or decorate.
BUT my daughter’s was a purple and gold Narnia themed room and my son’s was navy and white space themed.

  • @virtaur we also have a Graco pack n play as a bassinet! Love how portable it is. It was gifted to us by H's parents, I think this is their hint for having baby sleepovers.

@HGRich Your themes sound so literary, love it!
  • @denise_amd that room is GORGEOUS! I love! & that’s awesome about the pack n play! I do love how it folds up!
  • The wallpaper arrived- I ordered just enough to cover the area, and then I totally messed up one of the panels. 😅 So now we get to wait two  more weeks to finish it! Lol it was so close.
  • @denise_amd it looks so pretty though! Can’t wait to see the final look!
  • @denise_amd can you tell me where you got your rug? The colors look like they would suit my living room and I’ve been looking for awhile for a good one. 🤣
  • @HGRich yes! it's this Morris co ruggable rug in ivory! https://ruggable.com/products/morris-and-co-blackthorn-ivory-rug?size=6x9&system=rug-sys

They're washable, which is helpful if the rug is anywhere with lots of traffic or in a nursery lol. Let me know if you end up getting one and how you like it :D  you can use this referral link to get 15% off: http://rwrd.io/lup4twb

  • I think I’m Switching my dresser choice to this as it’s much cheaper. We have the longer version in another room in the house. I might change the knobs if I can to something nicer. Also I love going to ikea so the 2 hour round trip will be worth it 😅
  • @denise_amd thank you! It’s gorgeous, and I’ve been interested in trying out a ruggable.

@virtaur we went with an IKEA dresser with our kiddos and it was the perfect height to put the changing pad on. I think it was the hemnes?? Anyway, solid for that price. I love it.  And yeah I love ikea trips. We’re lucky to have one forty minutes away.
  • @HGRich that’s awesome! That’s exactly what I plan on doing too. The reviews on the Amazon one aren’t the best so at least I know the quality of the ikea one already. Plus who doesn’t love going there 🤣 most of the furniture of my youth came from IKEA & target haha
  • @virtaur that's a great idea to switch out the knobs! The thrifting mongrel in me is excited at the thought of vintage brass or ceramic pulls 😄
  • @denise_amd yaaasssss so pretty 😍
  • We also cosleep/bedshare, and my 3yo is still in our room, so no nursery for this baby. We did a whole fancy nursery for my son and he never used it once lol! Just recently I got him a bed with a slide and made it more of a kid room for when he is ready to move over. We have a 3 bedroom, so no extra bedrooms anyways (my SD is 18 and still lives with us in the 3rd room). I have a bedside bassinet (which will likely be more of storage anyways lol) for baby and then he will be with us for awhile. By the time he needs his own room I think my SD will likely be moving out on her own, so that'll work out!

We do need more clothing space as my sons dresser is just big enough to fit his stuff, so I am thinking about clearing some space in his room for another dresser or some type of wardrobe. I also need to purge toys and go through all the clothes we saved which are in our attic. Its a lot and overwhelming so I keep putting it off lol! I also need to find some good toy storage ideas to keep it all organized.
  • @stress_engine ahh omgosh it's so cute, I LOVE the dark wood tones throughout! I hope your wallpapering experience goes smooth, I struggled with mine 😂
  • @denise_amd, yes that is why it is half done! 😂 We had to walk away after the first 3 panels. First panel by the door trim was a bad start then very nearly almost completely scrapped the second panel because we peeled it back so many times and it started creasing up on us so much! The last one went a lot smoother, so I'm hoping we've got it now, but it is far from perfect. The rainbows start to elongate at the bottom a bit. They really don't help you out with the instructions, lol! Just like "make sure it's straight"!
  • @stress_engine right? It's like that meme on how to draw an owl (step 1 draw a circle, step 2 draw the rest of the owl lol). I think your rainbows look great! The only ones who'll notice the bottom parts will be puppies and crawling babes 😆
  • @stress_engine gorg!!! Love the furniture 😍
  • So my in laws want to buy the dresser for the baby. They want to get a nicer one than the ikea one apparently 🤷🏻‍♀️ my MIL is like that. I had affordable furniture on my son’s registry and she went and got stuff double the price so I’m not surprised. Saves us money I guess! I really like mid-century modern style but most dressers I’ve seen are pretty pricey. I found this one that’s not too much. I have to keep looking though

  • anyone else in the camp of not having space for a separate nursery? We live in a one bedroom apartment and plan to move maybe a year after baby is born,
so we well be attempting to create a “baby corner” of sorts in our living room. I’m wondering if anyone has done this and figured out to how to create darkness and privacy around baby? Canopies are pretty but then I read they can be a hazard….
  • @louloumama we don’t have a separate nursery and didn’t for our son either. We have baby’s space in our room. I didn’t do anything for privacy etc and he was pretty used to sleeping in not total darkness (light from tv or computer) and we didn’t have blackout curtains at the time. I put the pack n play next to my side of the bed and the dresser will go in the corner of the room.
  • The dresser saga has come to a close finally! My MIL ordered this one and it should arrive on Thursday. It’s very close to my son’s dresser just a different color this time. I’m excited to put all the clothes away I have sitting in baskets right now. I might still change out the knobs though for some glam.
  • @louloumama I guess this isn’t exactly the same as we will put a crib in the guest room but we cosleep for the first six months anyway so we don’t make a separate space first.
  • @louloumama I follow a YouTuber who converted a nook in their guest bedroom into a small nursery - maybe you can get some ideas from it? https://youtu.be/FDtzJ1OaSVE?si=14SbelgvXjqtcykk

She paints the walls dark/midtone colors, and closes the space off with some curtains that aren't directly over the crib.

@louloumama we don’t have space for a separate nursery either. We’ve done some rearranging of our bedroom, closet, and family room to make space for baby’s dresser, a mini crib, and a swivel glider. Eventually she’ll have her own room upstairs, but we need to get HVAC up there first as it gets way too hot in the summers, and that’s a project we just can’t afford to take on just yet.

  • 💗 now I have to figure out how I want to store her diaper changing items since the changing pad takes up most of the top part and I’m pretty sure I don’t want to use any of the drawers. Any suggestions?
  • I bought this over-the-door organizer thing that I'm going to hang on the wall to use for that purpose

  • @virtaur, can you get a shelf or two above on the wall? Maybe a shelves with a lip if you're worried about things falling down.
  • @kamikazezoomy I actually love this. The dresser is right next to the door so I could actually use it like that And it would save a lot of space. Thank you for sharing!

@stress_engine I was thinking shelves too, but my FIL is very picky about what gets drilled into the wall since we have textured walls lol
  • @virtaur even better! I don't have a door nearby for mine, and I haven't hung it up yet, but it feels pretty well made and sturdy. I hope it works for you
  • @virtaur love that dresser!!
  • @mar11btf aw thank you!! I’m glad I went with the lighter color.
  • The Ikea Hemnes has been out of stock forever, but got a notification it was in stock today. Managed to snag one - super excited! I shared above that we aren't doing a nursery, but we need to make room for baby clothes, etc. so I am reorganizing my toddlers room and getting a bigger dresser, etc.
