I just love sleeping on my back. Occasionally I flip side to side but always end up on my back. I've read all the stuff of left side is best, it will put pressure on some important vain but idk these things seem very unlikely. I just need to sleep!
@lizarina11 How far along are you? Basically, the risk is the weight of the baby putting pressure on your inferior vena cava, which is usually not significant until 2nd/3rd trimester. If pressure is being put on it, you may feel numbness and tingling in your legs, maybe light headed and dizziness: enough symptoms that you should know something is up and want to adjust your position anyhow. So this is all to say while there is a risk, you should feel if its happening. If it isn't uncomfortable for you, it's probably okay but may not stay comfy as babe gets bigger. And as always, you can check with your doc to make sure there's no added risk.
@lizarina11 I have started to recognize it becoming more uncomfortable, difficult to breathe well on my back, which for me feels like my body's way of telling me not to lay on my back for long periods of time. Ofc never hurts to ask your doc, but I also feel like similar to what @cmill828 said, your body will probably let you know because it will become uncomfortable.
