3rd Trimester

GBS swab

Has anyone tested positive for group b strep?
I tested positive.. and my mom made me feel like I’m a disgusting cow of a person for testing positive..

Re: GBS swab

  • Tell your mom to back off
Testing positive for group B strep is very common.  The only reason they test to see if you have it is to ensure you are on antibiotics through labor.

I read up yo 35% of pregnant women test positive.  Tell your mom that she could have Group B strep and not even know it!!!!
  • You can tell your mom that it doesn't necessarily mean you're ill or your baby will be affected, though there's a risk of passing the bacteria. Mom, there's no need for you to worry about it and you can try the GBS test on your own too!

  • Plenty of women test positive for group B strep. And sometimes you can be positive during one pregnancy and not test positive in another pregnancy. Is your mom equating it to an STD or something?? Sheesh. Cuz it's absolutely not like that.

  • I wouldn’t be sharing any more medical info with my mom if she treated me like that. We have tons of bacteria on and inside us it doesn’t make us dirty.
