A place for random postings to try and keep things organized.

Re: Weekly Randoms 12/18-12/24

  • My in laws are coming to stay in our home for Christmas and I'm afraid the nausea will hit and we'll have to tell them early.  Feels weird to tell people without having an ultrasound first!

  • @lexilougolden fingers crossed the nausea holds off for you!

We lost power in the big ol’ New England storm yesterday. It was out for a little over 12hrs, which was apparently just enough time for our basement to flood. Over a foot of water last night, and we can’t turn on the boiler because there’s still water so it’s a bit chilly in most parts of the house (our room is electric heat). We’re down to only about four inches left so the sump pump is working just slowly. All the remediation companies are booked a week out at least. And of course my husband and oldest had stuff all over the floor down there, so we probably lost a ton of stuff due to water damage. Stressed is an understatement right now.
  • @mouseymotherpucker noooooo. I'm so sorry.
Flooding is such a nightmare. We've been there after installing new carpet in our basement.

I hope one of the companies can make room for you.
  • @mouseymotherpucker oh no!! Hopefully there is much less damage than anticipated!
  • @mouseymotherpucker oh no, that sounds so stressful! Hoping you get things resolved quickly!
  • I haven’t seen any of the *read first* posts in these BMB since my sept 22 board. Outlines all the board rules to keep it organised and stop random threads that get 1 answer. Is anybody else keen for that? If so we can discuss in here & then I’m happy to post it?
  • I personally thought my last BMB had way too many daily threads. I found that particularly for high risk and other check in threads, you'd start a conversation & it would carry through multiple weeks which got a bit confusing. It also seems like not many people on these boards anymore (my first BMB had nearly 26k replies compared to the last few that only had 1-2k) so let's do something like this? If heaps of people join then we can increase the frequency of threads  :)

  • Nausea hit me pretty bad last week and I knew I wouldn’t be able to hide it during our family Christmas. I’m about 5w6d without an ultrasound, and ended up telling my parents yesterday. Today has been rough with my emotions. It feels more real now that family knows. I’m 30, this was a planned pregnancy, FTM and I’m honestly terrified.

@welshhanse it's scary,  the unknown. I feel ya. Emotions are tough to navigate, I try to be gentle with myself and the varying feelings.  How was telling your parents? I think I'll have to tell my in laws soon (they're staying at our house for the holidays and I don't think I can hide it much longer).
  • @lexilougolden telling my parents went well. I was super nervous and just wanted to get it out of the way! Lol. I told my mom to keep a secret but I honestly can’t trust her. She’s already giving me her opinion on who else I should tell. Staying firm with my boundaries.

With your in-laws staying over, that completely makes sense why you'd want to tell them! Good luck on that - whether you decide to or not :)
